But they aren't classics and never will be . I don't like them . Most of their production has been shifted to Mexico by German owner Daimler .

Freightliner lost me in the late 90s when they introduced a brand new body style and named it CLASSIC.
That is something to be earned, not bestowed upon yourself.
They were clearly trying to cash in on the 379 Pete market but us Pete guys were not fooled.
Hey BoostedTeg, you are never too young to appreciate class. -
When I hear the words classic truck. First thing comes to mind 359 Pete.
MUSTANGGT Thanks this. -
I couldn't agree more. I was a little too late to own a new one. My first new truck was a '97 379. First year of the 550 CAT.
My first truck was a FLD 120. Huge mistake. Poor quality and terrible resale value. I hate all things Freightliner til this day.ampm wayne Thanks this. -
Drove a 377 Pete. I liked the truck but never had that classic feel of a 359 or 379. I am currently driving a 2007 4900 series Western Star. I love it. But, 359 Peterbilt gets my vote for best CLASSIC TRUCK

Even though it's Canadian, I have to admit I always liked the Western Star.

MUSTANG I am glad we got this thread back on track. There was too much talk about Freightliners being classic trucks.

I have to admit I like the old FLC with the big hood and small square windshields.
However, they didn't stand the test of time. You rarely see anybody go to the trouble to restore one. -
In my mind there is a difference between a classic and an antique. I love to look at B-model macks,Brockways,Emryville IH. Autocars,I even have a fondness for cabovers. But,I do not think of them as Classics but more of a part of trucking history.
