Your settlement is to the truck, not the driver

JCT is an Lease operator company they Have no benefits PERIOD..they dont take out taxes the dont provide insurance they dont provide 401 if you cant afford to pay for it yourself from where ever you decide to purchase it...You should stay a company driver elsewhere.

i am a lease driver and my company provides us with health insurance if we want it. we can go somewhere else if we want but they do provide health insurance. my company provides the same insurance to their company and lease drivers. the weekly payments are a little more for lease drivers. thanks lmb for the info.

Thank you CyberGal for stepping in here. this forum is for dicussing your FAVORITE trucking company, not for complaining about getting fired.
JCT is a good company to work for. The key word is WORK. If you want to be home every other day and drive in the sunshine all the time, or run a dedicated route, then stay away from JCT. They want truck drivers here. They are basically a mid western operating company. If you are from the southeast, home time is somtimes rough. ALL Trucking companies have working conditions that are not suitable to some people. If you are looking for that perfect company, good luck. By some of the questions I have seen asked here, a lot of you are asking just that. Although they have a lot of interest in a driver succeeding here, they will not hesitate in firing you if you screw up. They are pretty strict on thier logs,BUT, they use loose leaf logs(figure it out). If you are sincere about employment here, call a recruiter and get your questions answered. Also just because you want to work here, does not mean they are going to hire you. I have talked to a few drivers that I thought were qualified, but were turned down by JCT.
I see this particuar thread as an oportunity for those that are interested to get some good informaton. If you want to knock this company, then there are places on this forum t do that. Just because a person has had a bad experience wit a company, does not make them bad. There are people out there who are not happy unless they are trying to make life bad for someone else
Enough of my rant......back to the show

Do you have to have reefer experience to be hired with JCT or will they hire you with dry van experience?

It does not list reefer experience as a pre-requisite for employment at the JCT site.

    Minimum Standard

Only those meeting the criteria listed below will be considered:

Must be 23 years of age and have one year (12 months) over the road, 48 state tractor-trailer driving experience, and possess a valid Class A CDL.

No more than three (3) moving violations in the past three (3) years. No more than three (3) preventable accidents/incidents in the past three (3) years. No major moving violations (15mph over, reckeless driving, etc.). No DUI/DWI in the past five (5) years.
No felony convictions in the past seven (7) years.

No more than 2 jobs in the past twelve (12) months.

Of course I bet you would be a more valuable prospect if you already had reefer experience and/or have been an o/o, lease op before.

Carriers today have the pick of the litter (so to speak) as far as new recruits.
