They'd have to put in full-fledged truckstops to justify the expense to build the parking lot. You want that too? I contend not because it wouldn't take long and you'd have a lot of empty truckstop parking lots with no open facilities.

...and anyway, Walmart is recession-proof. They love it. Just try getting in there on a Friday or first of the month.

there are plenty of walmarts out there we can go to. Some in fact have special spaces for trucks. The one in Manchester, TN just off I24 is one. There's another on in Neosho, MO just off of US71 on US60, Malvern, AR on I30 has lined spaces for trucks. It usually isn't a Walmart policy, it's usually the local government there that is responsible for running us off. I very rarely use their lots for overnight parking, and when I do I don't idle. I do go in and shop once or twice a week, and I normally get what I need and move on. If I use a cart I drag it back to one of those pens they have set up, I don't throw any trash on the ground, and I don't run over any trees or landscaping jobs on my way in or out. If everyone did this, there'd be no problems. But like someone said earlier, it only takes a few jerks to ruin it for the rest of us.

You are allowed to shop, you just cannot park overnight on their lot. Wal Marts in urban areas will tow cars that are parked all day as well. People try to use their lots as free all day parking.

I will try to put this to bed .

I drove for WALMART For almost 5 years

THE OLD GUARD of WALMART is dead and the old guard cared about americas truckers the NEW GUARD does not.

    SAM WALTON 1918- 1992
    BUD WALTON 1921- 1995
    HELEN WALTON 1917- 2007
    JOHN WALTON 1946- 2005

Wal mart after the death of HELEN (sams wife) has now even changed the logo and the catch phrase. SAVE MORE , LIVE BETTER, and not ALWAYS (sams phrase)

In short WALMART did have to employee at some locations a full time lot maitence person to pick up PISS BOTTLES, trash, and clean the lot from lazy folks PISSING beside the truck etc.. This set them back lots of money more in some cases than were brought in.

The front lots of the stores are not reinforced nor designed for truck traffic hence the TRUCK ROUTE signs at all stores this is where the pavment has been reinforced and is the direct delivery route in the store and out.
Lot repairs were also costing huge from ruts etc... from guys and gals not paying attention to the truck route WHICH IS MARKED into the stores. you at some locations will see the BARICADES (yellow bars at non truck entrances)

WALMART was recently fined 3.5 million for ideling trucks in the NORTH EAST or in 2006 in order to reduce fine and be an aviocate for clean air WALMART proposed that by 2008 all stores, DC'S and trucks (private fleet) would obtain an NO IDLE policy. If you deliver to a DC or go to the back of a STORE you will see the signs posted . NO IDELING

I do not condone WALMARTS behavior but guys we did this to our selves PISSING EVERY WHERE with a 24 hr bathroom provided just 100 yards away why ask why they dont want us there its plain IMAGE , IMAGE, IMAGE ,

Hope this clears up what anyone has said

FYI if you park in the back of the store not blocking a dock and ask a man ager they will let you park over night as so long as you are on the reinforced side of the lot (TRUCK ROUTE) and not in front of the store.

Also you can park near the TLE (tire lube express) this is also reinforced pavement and they dont open till 0800 in most cases some at 0700 and close at around 1900 pm (7pm)

Why are people so ready to slam drivers? Sure there are plenty of pigs out here but they would be pigs doing anything. If the non driving public is so sanitary why do so many walmarts ect run vacuum truck around their lots? The public can be just as nasty as a driver.

I agree. Alot of commercial parking lots are not built to handle the continues heavy truck traffic, that is why you get the ridges,(cowtrail effect). Also one of the problems that WalMart has is having to deal with the Trucker Bombs and trash that our elustrious drivers leave all over their lots. Drivers run over, bump and back over their yellow posts, stop signs and light posts and WalMart has to pay for the repairs as the driver hauls ##### so he doesn't have to face up to his stupidity and carelesness.
Alot of cities put pressure on WalMart to stop letting trucks park in their lot as the close by subdivisions don't want their neighborhood looking so trashy. I know our WalMart has put up with alot of pressure from the City Council in that regard. Alot of the problems are OUR OWN FAULT!!! Drivers are sloppy, careless, wreckless and just don't care about others and their property. This is the result of our actions and the drivers that do care, have to suffer along with the bad.:biggrin_25510:

As long as DOT and DAC are playing gotcha games, drivers will continue to flee from otherwise very basic minor mistakes. Your job is no joke yet we can't seem to shake being human.

You are correct, there are some Wal-Marts that allow and have parking just for trucks. I stop at one in Nebraska all the time, forgot the name of the town but its right off I80 ex 222 i think, they have marked lines just for trucks at the rear of the building, just do all of us a favor, pee inside the restroom and put your trash in the trash can, so we can all have this place to park at.:biggrin_25516:
