Don't know if they have Veteran Apprenticeship Program.

 

Schneider has lots of local/regional work in your area and also has Veteran Apprenticeship Program..
Schneider also reimburses cdl school tuition up to $7000 back to you.
Schneider has intermodal, tankers, dry van, and some dedicated refrigerated with companies such as Walmart.

Werner, Stevens, Roehl and H.O. Wolding offer the VA OJT Apprenticeship Program for 24 months. Most companies (Crete, Schneider, May, Jim Palmer are ones I can think of off the top of my head) run the program for 12 months. The money paid by that program comes from the Veteran's Administration (doesn't cost the company a dime) and is paid in addition to whatever salary you make. Additionally - and probably the best thing -all VA OJT payments are 100% tax free. The payments are based on the BAQ for an E-5. One thing to note - the payments are based on the zip code for where the company headquarters are. Say you drive for Werner out of their PA terminal - the OJT payment is based on the BAQ for Omaha NE because that is where Werner Enterprises operates out of. If you want more information I can give you the link to a VA web site that has a tool which will show you exactly how much you will make under this program. If you can get on with a decent company that offers it (a lot of companies don't because of all the paperwork and hoops they have to jump through fro the VA) take it - it is FREE MONEY. if you are for sure that you are trucking for the rest of your life and do not use the gi bill for anything else then do it. if not then dont waste your gi bill like that
