Is anyone running older trucks out to cali? Was wondering if you are having any issues with that state running older equipment out there since CARB and their nonsense kicked in about the new emissions.

Is anyone having issues with DOT or CARB/EPA running trucks out there that do not have the Regen motors. I've heard rumors of people being ticketed for not having a dpf or equivalent type filter on their trucks

  5. Lots of older trucks run in Cali. Unless your stopped in a scale with a carb setup. Carb can't stop you while driving, neither can CHP do anything at a scale. They have more important items to deal with then police air quality production in trucks.

Alot on TTR have posted. "I heard a guy who knows a guy who was ticketed from carb.". But so far no first hand from TTR members.(at least haven't come forward)
The past 5-10 yrs has forced a mass majority of trucking companies inside Cali to upgrade trucks or retro-fit.

I was told by an officer in Cali
"We don't have the space to stop all "emissions deficient trucks" who enter Cali, we have enough hatred by drivers to add more to that"

The have a carb station at the scales on 15 south CA/NV state line.
I was just in there getting an engine verification the other day.
Cop told me they set up there every so often and they check everything including looking for any holes drilled on newer trucks.
I also learned the not just any cop (CHP) can do an engine verification they need to be certified regardless if they are stationed at the scales or not.

    So there's no misunderstanding.
I was not pulled into where they set up.
I had stopped on my own and walked in an asked for a verification.
The info I posted is from my conversation the the CHP officer that did my verification.

I am aware of California based trucks and California based companies being inspected and even fined, but I haven't come across any out of state trucks being inspected. Makes me wonder if they are afraid of pushing the issue into the courts (and the possibility of the SCOTUS shutting the whole thing down under the commerce clause). Wouldn't that be a hoot, if they had to repay all the fines.......

OOIDA was helping Jack Cody out of South Dakota fight a CARB ticket a few years back, but I don’t know what ever became of it. That’s the only out of state one that I personally know about.

I've had no issues in CA, actually I had a level 1 inspection at banning. 1998 379. Passed and have a CVSA sticker now, person doing the inspection never said anything about being an older truck - they never even asked for my logs. Have not been north of Fresno, but just about everywhere south. No prepass so I go though every scale, never had an issue. Was just in bakersfield last month, took 99 south to I-5 to San Diego, nobody seemed to care about older trucks in CA.

I see em all the time in my home state. According to their doors. They're based in cali.

I think that new scale on 15 would be the only one to worry about. Unless the other scales got setup for carb.
