get Adobe professional it is worth its weight in gold. when I get a setup packet i convert it to a fillable form I type out all the info and do an E signature send it back with all my stuff. Just ignore their W-9 I have my own also in fillable format. don't have to print and re scan packet completed In 5 minutes. also a big time saver if you leave the trade references field blank and attach your own. with invoicing i also highly recommend trucker helper $30 a month very good investment.

Adobe Acrobat reader let's you fill and sign. It's free.

I have a PDF with my mc,w-9, insurance.
That I send when I receive their packet to show I received it and give them some quick info.

Does everyone send their carrier packet to the broker in an email now?

At least until McLeod finishes our software upgrade and goes live with the fillable packet for us. When that happens, carriers will fill out the packet and everything via a web link.

Everyone has given you great advice on what tools and software to use, not no one has actually talked to you about what you're signing with those packets, what clauses to lookout for, how the bols have to have you listed as the carrier and not the broker, and how there are some carrier packets you should never sign.

A lot of the broker packets have clauses that take away your rights as a carrier and put all the liability on you. For example if the shipper hid damaged product in the load, you would be healed liable for that claim because you said you would be when you signed your agreement.

To help you understand all of this, you need to read this book:

Mine was "Asleep" approx 6.4 years I carried her in everything all that time, especially finances to the penny after her full chemo about 15 years ago. That was also the time I turned white prematurely. She woke up approx late 7th year and aside from a touch of medicine she is sharp as a whip now, for which I am grateful. We take it one day at a time, particularly for me. Time gets short.

Understanding this is one thing but avoiding this trap is another story. How does one get a Broker to agree to the Carrier NOT being responsible for said damage? Fraud is a tough monkey to beat for all of us.
