I just bought a 2000 tractor with a Cummins n14. It was an Oklahoma City Municipal truck and only has 72000 miles. Everything on this truck works but it did not come with an engine brake. My question is should I buy an actual Jacobs engine brake or is there an alternative brand that works better with this engine?

Either way it’s not a simple install. And it’s a shot in the dark if you buy used jake brakes. Can get pricey new and time consuming

Let’s see some pictures!!

Next question... Date of manufacture on engine 10/1999. Truck is titled as a 2000. Engine ELD exempt?

What mile radius do you plan on hauling with it. Crossing state lines? You probably Eld exempt anyway

Oh and nice rig btw

Could try an exhaust brake, probably cheaper and easier to install then some jakes.
Cam Roberts Thanks this.
