    Success! I had to spend half an hour cleaning crap out of the connectors before installing the new resistor.

    Before the old resistor crapped out I had only one speed available, HIGH. Now I have all fan speeds available EXCEPT high.

    I figure the ultimate fix will be getting a new wiring harness, but I'm good with what I have now.
