Recently I was inspected in California and I recevied two violations, but no citation. One was for not having the license plate mounted and the other was for the spring guards sliding down and away from the gladhands. My company says that I have been assessed 12 CSA points, is that right? I looked into it but I do not consider those violations as severe and in the same category as being under the influence. If it is on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the most severe violations, how would those violations rank higher than 2 at the most?
CSA score

A: You do not have a CSA score. That is a bunch of nonsense dreamed up by a safety company and sold to idiots in safety.
B: Where this inspection will show up is on your PSP. It will have no score. It will simply list the violations. Your company may assign some phony assed scoring based on carrier CSA ratings but those points have no relevance outside of of ranking carriers.
Feel free to ask your company wtf CSA points mean? Any answer they give will indicate the level of ignorance they possess. -
Pull your PSP and focus on that, OP. CSA is more for the Carrier and PSP is more for the Driver.

They may be looking at the result with the multiplier; a 2 point violation x 3 = 6 points on THEIR CSA Score for the first 12 months. then x 2 = 4 points for months 13 - 18 before having just the points value for the last 6 months it shows on the CSA...that's the ONLY place showing any points.
Your pre- employment screening program [PSP] report will show each inspection back 3 years plus any accidents that made it to the FMCSA system [you would be amazed how many don't!] back 5 years. Just the total number of accidents and each roadside with the carrier's DOT,and the violations therein, no score at all!
No inspections and no accidents; I just spent $10.00 for a paper from the Feds saying you are an angel...
I get a lot of them. those guys are usually the ones who don't show up in my accident reports!Oldironfan Thanks this. -
It's all just hogwash. Made by people who have no idea what trucking is.
But use trucking as a piggy bank for rainy day type funds.Rideandrepair, 06driver and DSK333 Thank this. -
Okay, thanks for the heads up, my dad has been driving for the past 10+ years so I gave him a call, and he informed me of what ya’ll have confirmed. No moving violations, accidents ect., and my PSP will be clean, I have a year under my belt. Thanks for the info, most appreciated.

I have had two prior inspections under hazmat loads, Oklahoma and Arizona, no violations. If that matters.

There are many old school drivers out there that don't call this PSP. To some of them it is the CSA 2010 law. I spoke to a now retired driver that could not understand why Virginia took his CDL. Had a hard time understanding what happened in 2014. So I can believe a driver will not understand PSP. However I can't understand anybody that has been posting in TTR not knowing. This has been discussed in these threads for 2 years now.
