What is that turn dial?

 

I never did the cattle hauling. But back in the days, I used to run the old rooster cruiser. It was the bullhauler version of a reefer truck. Flat top W9 loaded with chicken lights, pulling a stainless steel trailer. And she was fast 125+mph. Atlanta to Miami in 10 hours flat. Down and back in under 24 hours. But years ago, after 9pm, the roads were empty. Leave out early afternoon and behave until 9pm. After 9pm, the majority of cars got off the road. All the solar powered trucks were parked. The only people out at night were the large cars and the wiggle wagons.

We'd run right at 8-9 over and then at 9, get on the radio and tell everyone that you were going to put the hammer down. The chicken lights would make everything around you glow. Everyone was cool, they'd see you coming and move right.
Biggest danger zone was on I75 in Lounds county (Valdosta area). The county mounties would line up in the median waiting for the drug dealers to try to bust through. We'd slow it down in Lounds, but everywhere else, all you had to do is show a cop your brakelights (it was a sign of respect) and he wouldn't chase you. If you didn't see him, he'd flash the blues at you. Tap your brakes. Diss a cop, and he was coming after you. Pop off on the CB and he would definitely ruin your day.

It was good times. I hated the grocery warehouses, but everyone was so cool. The vast majority of people that you had to deal with, the other truckers, they were GOOD people. Good, honest people. The cops were out and they'd respond if you said a greeting. And drivers were just simple, hardworking tough as nails people. Funny thing was, there were no Navy Seals. I don't believe I met a Navy Seal until 2000.

 

I believe it's a engine shutdown timer.

@Rugerfan that's what I'm told. Never used it nor had someone tell me how to use it. I wouldn't want to set it and have the batteries die out because I usually leave the marker lights on if the truck is idling overnight.

And being 14 years old, I doubt it even works.

 

I always get #### for leaving the marker lights on...

 

There's a fine line between crazy and brilliant....... The fellas that can merge that line....that's the guy you wanna follow. .....if ya ain't having fun what the hell did you get outa bed fore????

I don't think there WERE any "seals" back then, they were frogmen.

It was a different world then.
