I have hauled cattle before... Thats how I cut my teeth in this industry. Expect to get hurt sooner rather than later... Usually just bumps and bruises, but I have gotten broken ribs. Your going to get dirty. Loading and unloading is usually a fast process unless you are way in the back of the line at an auction yard on sale day. Probably the hardest part is kniwing how to load your trailer to maximize weight without going over too much. The yard man will ask how many head you want in each group and its up to you to figure out whats legal or not... At Sale yards you will know what the cattle average for weight before you bump the chute. Better like running nights cause Most times you load late in the day, and thats when you have a better chance of the scales being closed. Most days you will be running over weight or #### close to over weight. Most bull haulers have really fast trucks with lots of horse power. Days are long, sometimes very long... Get good at making a paper log book look legal. You WILL get off the asphalt, WAY off of it. And if you don't like steep narrow mountain roads dont haul livestock in the Rockies. At times you will drive for an hour or 2 on dirt and gravel roads that are barely fit for a 4x4 pick up... Let alone a full blown class 8 semi. Then once you get to wherw you are suppose to be it os a good chance the last mile gettimg to the chute will be a rutted out mud hole of a trails that you have to be able to get through to get loaded or unloaded, then again to get back out on the road.

One big bull can weigh almost a ton. -
trying to pay for a truck.
Only pickups I see hauling locally are owned by the farm......they will haul
their own stuff more for convenience......going from one pasture to another...... -

Why would you get trampled by the cattle? I mean I get it, but not really. You back up to the chute, a guy opens a gate, another guy has a flag on a stick going. YAH! YAH! I mean are you in the trailer trying to strap them to the floor or what?
SixShooterTransport and motocross25 Thank this. -
I’ve never done it, but I think there’s a bit more to it than that. You hafta coerce them where to go and then set up the different dividers. @wore out knows this game I’m sure he can set us straight.Cattleman84 and J Rich Thank this. -
Ok I was wrong. Not trampled just busted up real good by a stubborn bull. Or a mean fat pig.
SixShooterTransport and motocross25 Thank this.
