I did not say regulations restricted me.
I said I'm sick of not being paid for time wasted.
And tired of chasing miles. This practice needs to stop.
I've worked OTR, regional, heavy haul log trucks local 160k, wood chip trucks 120k gross, and hauled taters otr 4000 miles per week on 25% 1099 pay.
The only thing I've learned is I can not seem to net $1000 per week no matter which I've done.
Company driver needs to buy staps, and chains??

Then stop chasing miles. Do what I did and get a job paying hourly.

Thanks. My main issue is my area I've concluded.
Log truck owners in my area get around $1000 per load delivered to my local Verso paper mills. After buying a $200,000 plus truck with a claw boom, and pup, both made for super heavy hauling with 11 axles, and a double frame. So near 80k in mostly hard wood for $1000. I believe they need to go on a mass strike. One breakdown, which happens often can cost a weeks pay very easily. I feel for those guys. A bunch of my family owns those.
Then I know a local flatbed owner OP, who cant find drivers. He hauls various machinery, and LP wood sheets and his average per mile earning is only $2.20 he has been doing this for many years. He gets direct LP loads. He is also under paid for his labors I believe. He will not haul local lumber loads outbound, because he says they are cheap.
There is only one cold storage in my area within 110 miles. Virtually no warehouses except paper storage. Boss plows are made 50 miles from my house. Other than that only good paying $3.50 per mile beer loads from Miller, or Budweiser every so often. On some Wally, Menards, Meijer, and Home Depot to store deliveries.
The biggest carrier within an hour from me is Veriha. Not going to work for them for .45/ mile I believe and get very few miles to be home on the weekend.
And that's about all she wrote. -
I was coming north on I 65 last week near Remington, Indiana.
I saw a sign that said flatbed drivers wanted .90cpm. In big print.
I believe it said company drivers.
