I would have told him he did not want to follow me because I am the driver in that California video that had her truck slide off the side of the mountain backwatds and watch his eyes get big.
Seriously. I help when I can but that request was ridiculous.
Recently I witnessed an entire truck stop full of total tools. Driver just wanted to borrow a hammer to move his Tandems. He had the whole place turn him down. I kept a close eye on my hammer but it only cost me 5 minutes. C'mon guys.SixShooterTransport, Steele123 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Yeah I lent out a sledge to help a guy out, on a very cold night, this guy woke me up out of a great sleep, he begged me for anything to help him move his tandems and pointed to a truck that was sitting by the cat scale.
So I get dressed, I get out of the truck on a very cold 20 degree night, open up the tool box, then dig around in greasy dirty tools to find the d***** thing and hand it to him. I think he is behind me while I am closing everything up and turn to see him gone and the truck he claimed as his own driving away. AND I KNOW there is no way he could have covered the distance between the truck and my truck in the time I shut everything up.
I stopped lending tools out at that point. YOU want something from me and I can't help out, you give me something of value so I can trust you.
AND to beat all, I had to walk into the truck stop after I had to grab my hand soap to clean myself up, which meant I had to clean the grab rails and the steering wheel where I got grease on it. In the truck stop, they ran out of towels so I had to go back to my truck with wet hands, which stings in 20 degree temps.otterinthewater, UturnGirl and x1Heavy Thank this. -
One in Atlanta Fuel Line told a sob story about how he rode with a trucker and then unloaded the whole trailer on a promise of a piddling 150 on return to the Atlanta Petro. He was then supposidely directed to walk uphill to the eating place from the fuel line to wait for the money to come in comcheck etc. He sit there a while, then came back down find the driver gone.
Thats the story anyhow. It's his problem not mine. So sorry, nothing for you. Beat it. Im fueling. He hovers. I squirt some fuel on him whoops #### it I told you to get back Im fueling.
He explodes.
Let's say that's the end of that, also the end of Atlanta Petro for me. Im not the one in trouble thankfully. Police took care of that.
I had started to become somewhat hard hearted by that year anyhow it was bound to happen at some point where enough was enough no one gets nothing unless they are bleeding out, on fire or in some obvious dire straits.UturnGirl Thanks this. -
People disappoint me all the time. I am not as trusting as I used to be. I still try to follow my instincts because I can remember and bless every driver who has helped me out in the past.

In fact...this weekend I parked in the loves where I always park when I got a call from JB hunt telling me loves is fixing to tow me! I got there in under 2 minutes and it was 8 miles away. I beat the tow truck but it turns out it wasn't loves that called Jb it was a good Samaritan driver who figured out what was about to happen to me and called! He has some really good kharma coming to him for sure.

Good going UturnGirl. Glad it worked out.
I sometimes park and know I can get out before any hook comes to take my rig away. People hate that. But the hook is coming so I have to hustle.
Life has a way of making such a day interesting so I try to avoid doing stuff like that.UturnGirl Thanks this. -
I don’t know about lending a hammer, but I’ll take mine and go help if I’m not busy.SixShooterTransport, UturnGirl and x1Heavy Thank this.
