customer complaint is no wait to start lamp, hard start when cold. checked for codes. no codes. proceeded with KOEO test, passed. went to IAH/Glow plug self test., checked for B+V. tests ok. Performed test again and measured AMP draw. first grid was at 120A second was at 115A, spec is 125A +/-30A. passd test. measured OHM's of intake grid heaters and found 1.2 ohms in both, passed test. checked programming on ECM for intake grid heater and found truck is set up for heaters, (factory installed not dealer installed). At initial Key on, Wait to start lamp does activate with rest of lights for IC self test. Hooked up body controller software and confirmed wait to start lamp does operate. i am able to turn it on and off with the bulb test feature.

Check engine temp sensors. It needs to see a certain temp before it will engage that heater.

Heavyd,
customer has truck plugged into the block heater when parked. they did not mention this at first. we have a nice cold spell here in NY past couple days. tested it bright and early this morning. Wait to start lamp operates. elements drawing proper amps, intake temp rose from 39 to 75 in 45 seconds. fired up. Lack of communication seemed to be this issue.!Heavyd Thanks this. -
LOL, good. Yes, we have all been there. Sometimes the customer is the biggest mystery of all!
