Suck me sideways! This guy in Iowa wants to sell it for 11 k .. The head gasket is blown, and the transmission is just loose. The inside cab of the truck is mint. A rebuild is 25 k? But if I did the work myself I'm sure its 15k in parts, yea?

$12,000 for a tranny????? You need to find another shop. A rebuilt 10 spd is like $2800 + install. A 13spd is around $3600.

    plus labor there's your difference..........

Those are CAT and Peterbilt dealer prices....although CAT is the only source of parts that I know of....for a CAT engine (sure you can buy them in a number of places, but they come from the same source)....

You can get more reasonable labor rates at independent shops, but if you don't know one you can trust......well, you're results will vary...the good thing of the dealerships is Nationwide WARRANTY.....

Weller by the way, is the only rebuilt tranny Peterbilt will warranty...

CAT has different stages of rebuild: Gold, Silver, Platinum....parts included and prices vary....

You really need to know exactly what parts you'll need ....will you need the turbo's (12K for parts and not included in the overhaul kits).....do you need a Platinum kit or Silver....BIG price difference....

Transmission is loose?????what does that mean???...well, do your research BEFORE you pull the trigger, CAT engines are exceptional, reliability and power second to NONE, but,

    1. they drink fuel like it's free
    2. they are EXPENSIVE to fix....

So far so good, settlements have gone down a bit $3,600 gross to $3,000 gross....other than that.......not much...

Almost got into it with a crane operator at CP Schiller....CN was a mess yesterday afternoon, 3hrs to lift an empty....

Starting to get sick of the rails.....
