thats not that big of a issue. Too many people have done swaps to avoid elogs, so run without them for as long as you can if the dot gives you trouble slap on the elog. Orr if you wanna spend 28K keep your twin turbo and build it (ask superhauler) single turboed acert

call around and get quotes. 379 c15 to c15 swaps are super common so its not hard to find someone whos done it and will charge you a reasonable price. 50k is too much
Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this. -
Well I thought the same thing but when I called up to the federal office they told me that if I switched my motor over and went from a 70 pin to a 40 pin I was legal to run paper logs because the year of the motor and the vin of the truck doesn't matter at that pointRideandrepair and Oxbow Thank this.

Youd be cheaper to buy a crate engine directly from cat for that money. Seriously.
You can make a MXS run as well if not better than any E model with proper programming and a Mechanic that actually knows what hes doing for 10s of thousands of dollars less than what you trying to do.
Acert has the best rotating assembly of any Caterpillar truck engine ever built. I had a 550 MXS with a million 500,000 and the head had never been off of it.Oxbow, SAR and Peterbiltt Thank this. -
Whoever told you that is incorrect. The problem is, most of those people you "call" have no idea what they are really talking about.
Last ruling I heard, Unless it's a factory glider kit, you cant change to an older engine and get credit to run paper logs. You need to get that stuff in writing from whoever you talked to, otherwise its you're responsibility to look into the subject and get the proper info. Those people on the phone will say anything to shut you up or appease you.Rideandrepair, Oxbow and SAR Thank this. -
Oh I believe they're good motors, I've just had terrible luck and I'm sick of messing with it. But the brass tax of it, is I'm wanting to get rid of this elog. I absolutely can't stand this thing anymoreOxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this.
-
Well I suppose I'll have to do some more investigation on the matter.Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this.

I can totally understand that. The elog sucked in the line of work I'm in.
I got rid of an 05 kw and bought a 2000 W900 (99 build date 2ws E model) and I'm alot happier. -
I know a guy with a 700 horse accert, pulling a cattle pot does about 5, not sure if it's an mxs though. The two turbos is what scares a lot of people off them I think, they're thinking of having to replace two turbos someday is gonna cost double, just from a few people I've talked to.Oxbow and snowman_w900 Thank this.

Honestly, this is true. Its gonna take a super over the top A hole DOT man to look far enough into to get you for it.Oxbow, Peterbiltt and SAR Thank this.
