dock worker of the year belongs to Reckitt Benckiser Inc in Mechanicsburg PA. reworked on the load 4 times and still managed to distribute the weight unevenly, wth ? the load was only 43000 and total gross weight at 77800...come on. how would you react if he had the gut to ask you "did you try to slide your tandem ?"
newbie question: is it possible to slide your tandem to fix it (already at the 41 mark) and would it be legal ?

Slide the tandems in the direction of the weight. For example if the weight is on the Drives slide the trailer tandems towards them.. You can also move the 5th wheel if u got room for it and move some weight to steers.
-
looks like you had 36,140 lbs on your tandems?
then slide the tandems a bit back, like maybe 4-5 holes?
at 77,000 lbs, you ain't over weight.
and i wouldn't need a dock worker to tell ME to slide anything, as a river, i'd have known that. THEN if no adjustments could be made, I'D go back and have them rework it, of just simply call the company. -
so it wouldnt violate the bridge law ? i knew i was overracted, somehow i thought he could just move one or two pallets instead of sliding the tandem 5 or 6 holes
-
bridge law depends on each state.. Only state i ever had enforce it though was CA

i would have tried, 2 holes at a time...take along a large white chalk, and circle the hole you want the pins to go into, and re-weigh...repeat if needed. too many times, some newbies are not willing to slide the axles for fear of knocking off weight distributions. you gotta practice sliding the tandems, fifth wheel too...for a sleeper truck (no- reefer trailer), i used the have the fifth wheel/king pin at about dead center of the front and rear drive axles....maybe once in a while, one more notch, forward.hagarcobra Thanks this.

Should only ever need 1 rework....
Think about your pallet count and how you have it in there. 1-2-1? 1-1-2? If heavy by 2000 or 3000 all you basicly need to do is move 1 pallet from front to back or back to front. So if 1-2-1 is heavy in rear do 1-2-2.
Dock worker will load it how I tell him to load it. Don't do this rework business.jammer910Z Thanks this. -
at all of my past loadings, the dockworkers always did a great job of loading, especially when they have been doing it for so long..however, there are times, when a new buck is on the dock, and he has to learn, and we have to watch him/her.

When going down the hill to leave the plant.slam your breaks on will fix the problem or not

I would have looked for a ltl to finish the load out.
