Thanks, nice of you to say. Unfortunately,I was a crappy picture taker/framer. Most of these pics were done using those little cardboard throw away cameras back then. Don't have a lot of pics of the black Eagle. I can't find the front view pic of this, have it somewhere.
One of the carriers I was leased to had the account for hauling FedExs,specialized,od stuff. Was great freight, fantastic rates back then. Hauled lots of these new de-icer trucks and cargo loaders out of FMC in Orlando, where they were built.Went all over with them,Newark,Logan,SeaTac,SLC,Boise, etc. Any airport where FedEx flew freight. Legal loads, had a low RGN,could get the height down to 13'8.

Well looks like I'll be bouncing around 700 mi out of this hole. You'd think a boy would learn eventually.... just how many times do ya have to grab that hot pan before you learn anyhow?

I appreciate that @Oxbow
I’m currently stowing my bar on the floor of the passenger seat... not the greatest idea but it doesn’t fit anywhere else real easily
Hate to say it but SPD could learn a thing or two from how Melton specced their storage on the headache racks and the tarp box.
Crazy talk... I just need to get more creative with where I stow ####...Shock Therapy, 1951 ford, johndeere4020 and 12 others Thank this. -

Hey I mean it too. I always enjoy hearing about the old days when trucking was more than just a bunch of flip flop wearing steering wheel holders. Especially the way it was for owner operators. Just like building your own gliders and relining your own brake shoes. That's stuff I can remember as kid with papaw and my uncles and the guys they ran with.
Let's see there was: John Boy, Chicken Man, Mr. X, Jeremiah, Fender Bender, Slimer, Bad Habit, Nervous Wreck, Cannon Ball, California, Big Ernie and many more, but those are the men I remember well as a kid because they were all owner ops where my papaw and uncles were leased on and good friends of the family.
Got to know them better as I got older and started trucking myself. I miss those days and miss alot of the things the way they were then. Mostly miss the good people of that period of trucking. Your old pictures remind of that time period.Last edited: Oct 18, 2018
