That's neat!! I'll have to to look around. Some of the older, non-chain restaurants around here have a pictorial history, with a little blurp by each picture, of Hutchinson's history. The restaurant down south of town in Yoder (Amish country) has a neat little history book of the town on most of it's tables.

Here's a pic of my dear mother, early 1977,with my new 4300 Eagle, the day I brought it home from Reading International. Parked next to our 150 year old farm house, where I grew up. Truck was right at $39k brand new, thought that was outrageous, couldn't believe I had signed up for that much debt, lol. Five color factory paint back then,no decals, you don't see that anymore. Small cam NTC-350 Cummins,RTO12513,IHC 4.44 rears,10.22 tall tube bias rubber still. 350 was big power in 77. Crawl through the back window 34" sleeper. No heat or air in the sleeper, but in the summer, you lined the truck up sideways with the breeze, and kicked both sleeper doors wide open to snooze. I'm 6'1",most of the time my feet would be hanging out of the sleeper, and lots of times my pillow would end up on the ground.
One of the earliest 4300 Eagles built, probably the first in Md,we still had the 55' overall length law. With a 40' trailer,I was just shy of 57'. Just had to run around the scales, which I did for years, till the states finally relaxed those laws. Get pinched once or twice a year in Md.,$35. a pop,was worth it. If my kidneys and I where going to continue in this career,I had stop taking that daily beating from that cabover.
When I signed the papers on this truck, the salesman asked what size boot I wore, along with some other personal questions,I asked why. Just told me I'd be surprised. After I had the truck about 6 months,UPS dropped off a huge box from IHC. Part of the Eagle promotion. Had a pair of Kangaroo skin cowboy boots,Stetson Hat, IH Eagle windbreaker jacket, and Eagle belt buckle. Also a set of custom sheepskin seat covers. Probably some other stuff I can't remember. Was like Christmas in July!

Wow serious work, good stuff. Years ago,the local IH farm dealer in Westminster,Md. went out of business, and had a public sale. I bought their factory IH splitting stands, the type with the big frame with wheels, and a track system you lay out. Always worked great, esp. that satisfaction when you roll a big tractor back together, and it goes right in first time,no fighting, lol.
Biggest tractor I ever split was a 1086, for a clutch and ta,never again. Little bit too much for me.BigBob410, 7-UP, Hurricane69 and 19 others Thank this. -
