Did you even read my original statement? I don't think you did other wise you would have noticed this statement. First sentence, second paragraph.
What part of this statement has you believing that I think its the radio at fault and not the antenna?
The rest of my issues with Stryker radios are personal preference. I explained that in great detail as well.
I have two other radios that I can swap for the Stryker at any time that have NONE of my above listed problems with the stryker, and that's a fact.
How about next time you actually read and comprehend before you start lecturing?
Stryker cb users?

Not trying to argue, but when I read this paragraph here.....it sounds like you are blaming the radio. None of those have to do with the radio itself, it has to do with grounding issues on the truck, and your antenna system. If you are associating these issues with your previous statement about the antenna, then I withdraw my comment. Your other 2 radios (I would assume) do not have near the receive sensitivity as the Stryker, thus causing the feedback issues, etc.

My other two radios are just "off the shelf" stock CB's. Antenna is a Browning.
Once again, I understand its the antenna and a ground problem. I am using one of those bird perch mounts currently. Its the best thing I have found so far. I am definitely open to suggestions, as this is an on going battle.
The squealing is something I am forced to deal with everyday, it factual, and not based on CB brand preference. I am absolutely neutral, I don't have a favorite CB brand. And, if my experiences can help somebody make a better informed decision before they part with their hard earned cash then I have helped. -
I
have a stryker SR-497-HPC n I love it! Mines an older 497 though made in 2006 right when stryker went from the 490 to the 497. Mines swinging 130 watts with a 40 Watt carrier. It performs very well, I've had a lot of drivers ask me what I'm running cause they love the way it sounds. The only other radio I've found that sounds as good as my 497 is a connex 4600 turbo. Which is my other favorite radio. -
I'm running dual browning BR-78 antennas on my cascadia with a swr of 1:3 my advice to you is find a CB shop n get some of the heavy duty mirror mounts for the cascadia. They'll run you about $35-45.00 and also have the CB tech run a ground strap off the bracket. Also if you're trying to use the factory wiring harness to power your radio I guarantee that's the problem #1 not enough power #2 that ground sucks I checked mine n it wasn't even hooked up. Your gonna have to run 10 gauge wire from your radio directly to your batteries.

And as for your squealing noise if you have a power inverter turn it off when you use your radio. My inverter causes interference with mine
-
A good pure sine inverter rectifies that problem. (No pun intended)

Samlex. And a few others. Brand really really matters with inverters.

I had a 655 Stryker radio.Worked great for me except for when it stopped transmitting. Went to the dealer where bought it was told it send it to stryker because they would not let dealers have parts. I sent it in after 1 1/2 mo. I got it back and was told a wire had come loose. It worked for a week then stopped again. This happened again. Same story again send it in. This happened three more times so I finally gave up and got I know Galaxy. After spending almost $500 for the Stryker and it only lasting for about 1 year I will never I have I need another Stryker. If anyone has a Stryker may God help you if you ever have trouble.

Only problem I ever had with my 655 was low volume, but Fine Tune/ Hard Drive posted a video re cleaning a connector to fix. Worked like a charm
