Taking The Leap into trucking, what should I ask the school rep?

Best of luck to you with trucking school. I am an instructor in a trucking school so I'm gonna give you a couple of things to hopefully help you. First question you need to ask is about licensing in general. Do you need to have your Temp Permit (with Airbarkes, Combination Vehicles) to get started. Next question I would ask them is about absences...Like if you miss a day can you make it up with a different class so you are in compliance to get your certificate or so you don't get turned into a professional student. 3rd question to ask about is will their school certificate be honored by trucking companies as 1 yr of experience. Most of these should be easy questions to get answers to as well. Also ask about how many classroom hours, yard hours, and driving hours you can expect to receive. Other questions you should ask would be about your DOT Physical and is that cost included in the tuition. More than likely it will be. Hope this helps

Heh. You'll learn at Eastern, that's for sure. Provided you make it the first year there.

Eastern is dying. Two years ago they had over 100 trucks, now their down to the 60s.

They have a "firing freeze". so you won't get fired at least. if that's any consolation?

as far as school.... Why Allstate? Try ABCDL out in Waterford, CT. I went there for my CDL, owner is a retired state cop, serious but fair guy who will teach you the basics for thousands less than their competitors. he knows the system very, very well.

Wherever you go, try and get a connecticut state grant if you qualify.
