No idea. Driver was asleep when I got here and is still sleeping, lol. If I want to be home at a reasonable time today I got to get moving. But it'd be interesting to know.

Good morning, in El Paso where I "thought" the rain was finally in my rearview for a while....
Nope, wake up to more rain. At least I didn't get the truck washed. Time to head up and get something put on my deck...finally.BigBob410, Zeviander, Hurricane69 and 12 others Thank this. -
I don't think about Murphy's. I've noticed 5th & Monroe is often 25-30 cents cheaper than Blanchard & Main. After kwik shops dirty diesel adventures, I steer clear of them. I've been buying it at COOP on W 4th.BigBob410, Zeviander, Hurricane69 and 14 others Thank this.

Whining, drooling, crying.... I dunno man.... sometimes I think they like her.BigBob410, catalinaflyer, Zeviander and 22 others Thank this. -
Here's the deal:
You and I grew up and started driving cars when cars still had drum brakes, no seatbelts, no cattleprods of any sort, television went off at 11pm...etc. When you drove on the highway, you learned the Rule of the Road. Most roads were two lane, with lots of stops and cops...etc. We had to share the road. When we started trucking, we ALREADY knew the Rules of the Road. But the people after us, didn't learn the rules of the road until they started trucking. (and they outlawed lead based paint in 1978...so, the Darwin's didn't die off before they were old enough to breed...meaning preteen)
So, you have people who didnt learn the rules of the road until they started trucking. They hated that. Why? Because it's like every guy that has ever had a pickle thinks that automatically means that he is porn star material and a good driver. And then, suddenly, he is thrust in amongst people who know that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. In another thread, someone made a comment to JD about how youtube is a better teacher than an apprenticeship program because, "you don't have to listen to stories about when dinosaurs roamed the earth."
Are you kidding me? That's exactly the guy I want to learn from.
But that's not the real issue. The real issue is that these guys don't want to hear that they have no idea what they're doing. They avoid the lunch counter, not because of the fishing stories, but because everyone there will figure out instantly that he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. They waddle in, get their food to go, avoid making eye contact with anyone, and scurry back to their trucks and hide in the sleeper. When you go into a restaurant, watch them. Yet, when they get behind the wheel or the keyboard, or video game they're the baddest man that ever lived. That's not you and me. When we came into the industry, a driver was as tough as any man on the planet. Today, they're primarily a bunch of fat, smelly, sidewalk sissies. But it's not just drivers.
Rode down to a motorcycle rally in Galveston. Grabbed a motel in Baytown, unloaded my gear into the motel room, and went to gas up. There were 2 guys in leather jackets and chaps, bikes on a trailer, Harris County Texas tags. They see me and ask me where I left my pickup truck.
At home. 1000 miles away.
"You rode all the way here?"
You guys have a 30 mile ride, yet you're trailering your bikes. What's all the leather for?
"You're an A Hole."
Yes I am. You guys are sissies.
Anyways, back to trucking...these fools cutting close to you are just bringing in those bad habits that they had in cars. they act like it's a slalom ski race where you have to cut it close to those poles. This is why you see these huge truck crashes in bad weather nowadays. Years ago, it was an occasional thing. Maybe once a week or so. Now, it's an every day occurrence. Every time it rains, you see some truck in the woods. Every time there's a traffic jam, you see big multicar pileups. Now, the statistics they show you and me implies that the roads are safer now than they were back when you and I started. I don't agree. The worse thing about it is, in 5 years, no one will be able to drive without the smart cattleprods. The best they will be able to manage is being a steeringwheelholder.
Speaking of dinosaurs, stumbled on this video
This was back in the day before Hulk perfected his Hulk persona. He was actually cool.
