I always thought the #1 rule of driving was no fatigued driving.

Guess that don't apply to hos.

If I get tired. I still take a nap.

Because people don't bother to actually read what this is about. It's more fun to pretend that permit holders that haven't passed their test are being allowed to drive alone.

This is a common exemption that a lot of training companies have. Prime has had this for a while. Like someone said earlier, this is only for permit holders with a passed CDL test who just haven't yet gotten to their home state DMV to turn scores in.

It's better for the company and better for the drivers. If they have to wait 2 more weeks after passing their skills test for their piece of plastic to arrive in the mail, the drivers are not making money. I would think it's better to keep them driving so they retain what they've learned in school easier.

However, there's no need for an exemption. Just make it apply to anybody who passes the skills test and is only waiting for their license in the mail. At that point, it really doesn't matter if someone else is in the sleeper berth or they're the only one in the truck driving solo.

If you read the article CRST is getting an extension till 2023. They've already been running like this for two years without incident.

If a driver needs to cheat on his logs after 20 safe years, he needs a better job.

livestock haulers were given an exemption for elogs, are they cheating? should they find a better job? why did they need an exemption? to "cheat"? the problem is what has been defined as "cheating" has nothing to do with safety.

I make a good living, I don't work too hard, and I run legal. Seems like a good recipe to stay safe, yeah. At least I'm well-rested.
