]Iv hauled singles, doubles, and triples fairly often, never hauled anymore than that. Picking up a load of 7 galvanized SS55 G90 .700 NOM X 19.7440 all weighing under 6500lbs from butler IN. Should I have a coil rack for each or can I haul them like I see people run slinkies. Iv also never hauled slinkies because i only carry 6 small and 6 large racks. Trying to figure out securement before I arrive and tie up valuable space.
Also would two on front and rear coils opposing and one through each eye work as far as chains go?

If you could post pictures or I detailed description I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks all.

A lot is going to depend on what they use to load and unload them. Biggest problem I see so far is you only have enough racks for 6 coils unless i'm misreading.

No you are correct 6 racks for small coils and 6 for large. But I see a lot of the smaller coils 6+ being ran with only a coil rack in the front and rear and the rest sitting on the deck. I know Iv read on the fmcsa web site that coils can’t sit on the deck but wasn’t sure it that was dependent on weight or not.

I just loaded out of Paragon Steel in Butler on Wednesday if thats where your going? Mine were on pallets called "Hot rolled Band" they weren't the standard palletized coils that are shrinkwrapped these were short so they double stacked them...

You have enough racks for slinkies, everytime I load them you only need coil racks on the front coil and the rear.

Well if they load them on pallets I’ll run 3 straps each and a header up front but if they are suicide I’m not sure I could run them.

Magic coil products is where I’m loading.
Yeah I turned down a #### good load out of NJ because I thought I couldn’t run them with racks for each.

Ya, I ended up X chaining over the top but guy next to me strapped so whatever works for you.

They did have guys loading regular suicide coils that needed racks but I didn't pay much attention... Theyve got a couple different steel places over in Butler.

It will depend on who loads them, but most wont sit them on the floor. What I have done and its not legit is if you load them suicide all in middle of the trailer is just use 1 single rack under 2 of the coils in the middle. even better if you can load them touching each other.

Got good money one time to haul 8 coils. Stoped and bought 2 extra racks at the truck stop to cover the load. They couldn’t find anyone with enough racks to cover the load so I got double the market rate to haul them......

    They were skidded.

    Lol

You can also chain as you describe, that's how I do it but I don't think it is legal.
