brickman i had that OH SH@# moment a few months ago, coming back from iowa city, trooper told me it only applied to driving the truck, but if i was using it for commercial purposes there's zero tolerance. :biggrin_2554:

the way they change laws for us, its possible he didnt know. but yeah. he pulled me over and i flat out told him i had a few beers, wasnt drunk, but id take the test if he wanted me too at the outset. that was honestly the first time ive forgotten to put my seat belt on in propably 5 years, be the last too.

guy i used to somewhat hang out with, got close to 18 sheets to the wind one night and was driving home, stopped to relieve himself in an alley, ended up with public intox and a dui because his truck was still running. lost his license, his job, and ultimately his family. i dont mind knockin a few back, but its hard enough to keep a family in this industry as it is. =P

remember kiddos, theres not a good time for drunk driving, ever.

    Brickman Thanks this.

Not true . If you blow even a trace of alcohol you will be put OOS for 24 hours . http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache...cohol+out+of+service&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=5&gl=us

Seems to me as if the driver was OOS for about 1 yr, not 24 hrs.

Or do they allow you to drive until the trial, and at that point you lose the license for a yr?

This is from the October 1, 2008 Missouri CDL Handbook...

    3-Year Disqualification
First conviction for any one of the top seven
    violations listed under one-year disqualification
    while transporting hazardous materials.

    1-Year Disqualification
Driving a CMV with a BAC of 0.04% or higher.
Driving while under the influence of alcohol or
drugs if the person is a CDL holder or if person
    is operating a CMV.
Refusing blood and/or breath test if the person
is a CDL holder or if person is operating a CMV.
Failing to stop at the scene of an accident if the
    accident causes injury or death.
Using a CMV to commit a felony.
Driving a CMV with a revoked, suspended,
    canceled, or disqualified privilege.
Causing a fatality through the negligent or criminal
operation of a CMV (includes the crimes of
motor vehicle manslaughter, homicide by motor
    vehicle, and negligent homicide).

As far as what happens in your personal vehicle I guess it depends on what they consider "Under The Influence"... Basically don't drink the day before you drive unless you are 100% sure it's out of you system. (Good luck with that.)

Be careful and hope this helps!

Ok, here's a question about the HazMat charts. I'm trying to memorize them but there's a couple of them that are documented poorly so I'm looking for clarification.

    Hazardous Materials Table:
2.3 Poisonous/Toxic Gases (example: Fluorine, Compressed)

The comma causes some confusion. Does this mean that Fluorine is only considered 2.3 HazMat if it's compressed or does this mean that Fluorine is always 2.3 as well as any other compressed gas.

    Placard Table 1
5.2 (Organic Peroxide, Type B, liquid or solid, Temperature controlled) placard as Organic Peroxide.

Again the commas muddy the description. Are they referring to a specific type of Organic Peroxide that is of Type B that can be in a liquid or solid state and is temperature controlled? Or are they saying that there are 3 different types of Organic Peroxides that need to be placarded. Those of type B, those that are in a liquid or solid state, those that must be temperature controlled?

I suppose if I was a chemist this would seem trivial but as I know nothing about these things other than their names it causes confusion.

Different types of Organic Peroxide have different UN numbers . http://environmentalchemistry.com/y...type%A0C,%A0|Organophosphorus%A0compound.html

Any hazmat material shipped will require an MSDS . The MSDS will give the UN number which you can use to get complete info from the Emergency Response guide .

The scoop on triples are rumors and just like im6under says slow down. I've driven them out of Las Vegas going up to Reno and if you've been on US95 you'll know that at times the wind blows heavy at times. Never has my last box crossed over the line but you've got to make sure the trailers are loaded correctly. Sure they will sway a little but not out of control unless you're driving like a madman. The fun part is when you make a 90° right turn and can look out the passengers window and see your last trailer just starting to make the turn.

As far as DUI's or DWI's go it all depends on the state. Every state I've lived in always says while driving a CMV.

I was going to add my Tanker and Doubles and Triples today when I renewed my License, but the girl at the DMV thought I might have to take another driving test, I really didn't have time for her to look it up, plus it is Friday and I want a long weekend.
