If I were to order a Cascadia today, I wouldn’t get it until next year, the dealer said, around 9 months, and they are allowed 2 orders a month.

Why would you order a truck? There’s plenty of new well equipped trucks right on the lot. That dealer is giving you BS, with fake scarcity! The only big sacrifice is most inventory is ordered in white. But with a little bit of bling and polishing, those white trucks can look pretty sharp. Widen your search, and find a real dealer with inventory, ready to roll. If you have good credit and a healthy down payment, you shouldn’t have any problem. Of course if you want a new Pete, with exactly your spec, on every component, then you’d be looking at some wait time. But I’ve seen great spec’d trucks on the sitting right on the lot. Good dealers know how to spec a truck correctly.

Sounds too much like a “rent to own” store, you absolutely will over pay on those deals, whether it’s a washing machine or a truck. Also similar to a little car lot that does “buy here, pay here”, another extreme profit maker for the seller. Ask to see the “agreement”, probably 8’ long, with words and legal terms, that you may not understand. Trust me, all the words add up to a complete sellers advantage. Not too many folks out there doing it for heartfelt reasons. The little guy can screw you just like the big boys! I worked with a guy who ran a “buy here, pay here, no credit check needed”, and he was taking advantage of whoever came through his doorway, all the cars had hidden tracking devices attached, so if he needed to repo one, he knew right where to look. A day or 2 late, and that car was back on his lot. And he’d still go after the previous owner in court.
