    Makes no sense . If the truck was stuck on ice what good would lifting the gate do ? The gate wasn't keeping the truck from moving .

    No, but lifting the gate, depending on where it was on the truck could have been helpful in trying to get the driver out or get to the cab to find a way to move the truck
