Yes, either
Alot of guys ask this and all I can say is a 53 will always offer more loads. However, 53' spreads look WHACKED imo. Mine's a 48 and I have no problems
No
Go with a spread, you won't regret it. Quick dumps on both axles are a must.

Run a 50' Utility with spread axle with quick dumps (got to have those) and nice noisy Thermo King unit.
For those of you who pull a 53', just how many time to you load to the door? Usually not...so you're cooling 3' of empty space...no thanks! -
i have a great dane (dry van though) stopped in traffic and a jackknifed truck spinning at least 40mph slammed into the back of my trailer with his trailer(utility i beleive it was) his was a mess im still pulling with mine. hit my left rear corner didnt even bend, had to fix the door on the bottom slightly. I have to stick with a great dane., thanks for the post im also looking at getting a refer
