I got the best advise on I70 over the Rockies. This guy had done this run twice a week for years. Each run over and back. He only had to chain up maybe three times a winter.
Forget going at night. Wait until you’ll be going up high after 9 am. Preferably plan to hit Eisenhower about noon. That way they have everything cleaned off best they can. It’s in the best shape possible.4mer trucker, MACK E-6, Cattleman84 and 2 others Thank this. -
Best to just avoid I70 past grand junction.

One of the last places I delivered to, the guy starts talking about snow and chains at the place I was going.
I'm going " Sir. Sir. Whoa. Stop. I thought you were a good guy, we don't you use the S word or the C word. Ok? "MartinFromBC, Cattleman84, Lepton1 and 4 others Thank this. -
Lol I remember when I was a new driver and thought I'd never have to chain up. I thought all I had to do was just park if chain law ever went in effect. Boy I thought my plan was fool proof until I realized how stupid it was while I was chaining up.
MartinFromBC, Cattleman84 and Lepton1 Thank this. -
I considered buying auto chains for the truck..... Then realized that I was better off firing the load planner and finance monkeys if they couldn't make it work for me to park at home for the worst of it.

So the C word is “chain”?
Dave_in_AZ and Cattleman84 Thank this.
