Interesting, I would have thought just slightly lower rates for approved carriers like I heard. Sounds like a whole different board altogether.

Here's a cpl of screenshots from Landstar's owner op recruiting website.

This is the breakdown example they provide for a dry van. Of course, the rate they use in the calculation is subjective. Could be higher or lower on the base rate depending on when/where you might be.

Look at the bottom line AFTER they get their cut. Based on a 651 mile run, the dry van base rate pkus the fsc, the bottom line is $1.62 a mile.

That is nothing to write home about.

In addition, that calculation is not "take home pay". It's interesting how recruiting folks present numbers like that. I mean, you still have all the other costs associated with running the truck that comes off that "take home-pay" ;-)

There’s no merit in those numbers whatso ever, it’s a “HOW to calculate” tool, not a potential income guesstimating tool lol

I would LOVE to see a screenshot or two of the BCO board with these numbers they like to throw around. Pics or it didn't happen!

That's what I'm talking about alot of the profit goes to their pockets . It's just too much , when there are other companies out there that charge way less . Just do a Google search for owner operator companies that pay 90% of the open market freight contract . The reason it's nothing to write home about is landstar takes money off the top and then makes a landstar contract for a lower amount and then takes 37% percent from that it's just sad that so many driver's don't realize they could do so much better with a smaller owner operator company and away from the mega fleets

My numbers aren’t stellar by any means, as I’m still very green to the industry, but a huge jump from company driving. Everyone has a different number that suits them. Mine is anything 3k or more a week take home.

You'll never know what it is ANYWHERE unless you bid the run directly with the customer. Even if you run under someone else's numbers and they let you work the boards you'll still have a Broker (or three) in the middle hiding the original number. Unless one goes direct, they'll never really know those magic digits.

Post a screenshot of the BCO board of some freight leaving Baltimore/Harrisburg heading toward Chicago.

    Isn't that what I said? It's subjective.

Those are their numbers, not mine.
