See, I don't get this. Some of these shippers try to overload you, then get pissy when you refuse. You're mad that you had to rework a load? Or break it up between two trucks? Well maybe you should have considered that before you tried to stuff 45k into the box!

I did an aluminum recycling load, they got my net weight when I went in. They knew what they had to work with but the still stuffed a 40k+ load onto me and when I scaled out to leave I was 2k over.

But no, they couldn't just take two bales of aluminum off. No they had to make me wait until the NEXT DAY(!!) and pulled the whole load off and cancelled.

Nice try, we billed them for 24 hours of storage at hhg rates, plus total miles up to their location and back. Took 'em to court and got a settlement equal to what the trip would have paid in the first darn place. All because they just HAD to be 2k overweight.

I'm sure they pulled that stunt all the time, lucky for me my company had my back.

We` used to have to dodge the scales all the time when I worked for a company that sprayed weeds on the tracks with a Hirail tanker truck

Could mean Arkansas since that's the abbreviation.

But who would only want arkansas scales to close, I mean you're wishing for sunny and 75 in December, you might as well be wanting it in Alaska.

I should clarify here, they were pissed because the seal had been broken. I tried to tell the jerk-offs at Purina many times that 44k was the max for most of our trucks. The 386 Pete I drove could do 44,000 if the fuel was right. The MaxiPad-powered Intertrashable PornStars they stuck me with later could do 45,000, again, if the fuel was right.

But they still routinely stuffed 45k or more. Once I got one that had 46k on it. I was going in this place with 3/8 - 1/2 tank of fuel just to try to make it work, because none of these loads were going over 400 miles.

That 46k one got interesting. The nearby CAT scale at Nichols Aluminum showed I was 81,300 lbs. With a Intertrashable PornStar at 3/8 tank of fuel. Went straight back and told them I needed 1,300 lbs off and I didn't care how they did it, I wasn't leaving until it was legal.
