Got our pad work done and I got assigned a trainer yesterday.

Bill took the 6 of us out for our first road driving day today. The whole class will be heading up to BRF Monday then to Cville.

Starting to feel like a trucker...

It's a great feeling, ain't it? At some point down the road, you will have the following experience. Probably about 6 months or so after getting your own truck. You'll go home, visit with family and friends, and listen to them talk about their jobs. There WILL be a moment when you shake your head and wonder how they can do it. Happens to me every time I go home. Couldn't go back to a regular job no matter how much you paid me. At that point you won't feel like a trucker. You'll know you can't possibly be anything else. Diesel is infectious.

I was originally scheduled for Trenton back in June, something came up so had to postpone. So when I was ready to get things started in August, first available class was Richfield, Wi. I have heard a lot of good things on these forums in regards to Bill there in Trenton so was a little nervous about going up to Wisconsin.

All I can say about Jamie up in Wisconsin is, he was great. But its a little different up there you test for your CDL the last week of school. For 2 and a half weeks I was worried about failing, when I passed my CDL test I was happy for about 5 minutes and then realized I don't know anything about being a Truck Driver. lol. Meeting my trainer up in BRF on Monday morning and heading out for 3 weeks.

@Steelersjunkie I live about an hour and 10 minutes away from you up near North Olmsted. One day I would like to meet up with you down in your direction and buy you a meal. Son goes to school in downtown Akron so I do get down there a lot.

Yeah Jamie is awesome! I took the instruction class down in eden,NC but if I could do it over I would’ve went up to Richfield. My particular class had a bad experience with our instructor which I’m sure you’ll hear about some day while at Millis.

@Steelersjunkie will like you more if you by him a cold one lol

Speaking of which, @Steelersjunkie when are we going to catch up and have a cold one man?

I'd love to meet you, but buying me a meal certainly isn't necessary. Since you live relatively close, hooking up should be a piece of cake. Just let me know when you have home time scheduled and I can route myself home during that time. Shoot me a PM with your phone number, we'll make it happen. It's funny, I used to consider a 70 minute drive to be long. Now I drive that far just to get my truck serviced and it feels like nothing. I go to Youngstown when I get stuff done on my truck or APU. The places close to me suck.

Hey!!! I resemble that remark :biggrin_2559: Happy to hook up some day, for sure. Just shoot me a PM with your number and we will most definitely figure it out. Always happy to meet more Millis folk.
