Probably should start with a new mechanic, last one left you hanging.
Dave_in_AZ and Lepton1 Thank this. -
The truck parts place will sell a 2 part clutch brake that can be put in without pulling trans?
OLDSKOOLERnWV, Samuelh and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
I think that is how Volvo and Mack clutches are, they are not adjustable. Once it gets to that point, it needs a new clutch.

When I'm at a stop, I leave the transmission in neutral. Without a clutch brake, if I'm on an upgrade, or flat ground, I'll keep the clutch on the floor and firmly move the stick into low gear when it's time to move. Minimal to no grinding.
With or without a clutch brake, on a downgrade, keep the trans in neutral and your foot off the clutch (easier on the release bearing and clutch brake). When it's time to move, release the brake and let the truck start rolling on its own in neutral. If the grade is steep enough, you can let it roll until your road speed is sufficient to allow you to skip low range and float right into high range 6th or 7th without touching the clutch.
The clutch brake is not necessary equipment.Wicked Wizard and TIMPTE 527 Thank this. -
I’m not sure when they switched to the hydraulic style clutch. Basically on the newer trucks they just checked the reservoir and said if it wasn’t low they couldn’t do any adjusting.MACK E-6 Thanks this.
