US mail contractors

    Good with the bad unfortunately. Company requires you to have health insurance. Company pays you 820 a month so you can buy it. think of it as "it wasn't my money to start with, but I am getting a benefit from it."

    If only recruiters were held to the same standard as truckers.

    ("Your license is revolked! You can't place another add for 6 years! If you are found using another internet account, you will be subject to jail time, and your words per minute and total typing accuracy will be tested randomly!")

    My mom was a legal secretary, so she's shown me the typing curriculum they used to require in secretarial school. Most people today would barely pass.

    Does anyone have any info on Hoovestol Trucking? I am wondering how they will be compared to Pat Salmon. Are they good to work for? How are they on truck maintenance? I would appreciate any info.

    What are the requirements and the process to join US Mail as independent contractor/ owner operator?
    I have my authority and tractor, I heard that US Mail pays good money to its contractors.
    I'm thinking about hauling for US Mail as independent contractor so I will greatly appreciate it if anyone can tell me the instructions on how to join.

    I don't know for sure, but my understanding of it is that you have to contact the US government and become a contractor for them.

    I thought that I remember something years ago from the small business administration where they help you go through what you need to contract with the federal government.

    When I used to do the mail runs, the guys said that each run was done by a bid process and the lowest bid would get the Run. But there are plenty of contractors for them to keep buying truck so I guess they get the bids.

    It probably is good money, but that's that schedule that they keep is kind of insane. From the pickup they will only load you exactly at a certain time and from there to the next point you may have enough time to get a cup of coffee if you're quick running in and out.

    And if somehow someway you do manage to get in and out a little quicker the next place will only take you exactly precisely at that appointment so your day can never really be any shorter or get done any quicker.

    But I would imagine as an owner operator you could make good money doing that.

    Before Christmas time they get crazy busy maybe you can find someone to subcontract for during that time and see if you would like it if you've never done it before.
