    I would not say enjoy, as much as I would say make the best you can out of a bad situation. Being laid over is a hazard of the business. However the OP should have been put up in a hotel. I also agree with a previous post. Sometimes your funds don't allow a lot of "getting out" and I respect that. 4 days is a tad bit of a long lay over. I have had worse though. I have had long break downs and my company kept me on that load too. Got screwed over forward and backward on that one.

    I will say I agree with your comment in principal. However honestly some of my favorite (off the radar) eating places have been discovered while laid over. I have discovered some nice out of the way places to park overnight too. Most drivers either don't have the time or the inclination to explore. Big world out there. However as was said, you need to have some money.

    It wont be much.

    FFE Paid spouse very little despite the driving she did with me weekly. I think not much more than 300 net. It was consistent until she came out of training and was allowed to be a full seat with a small raise. Then the miles really kicked in.

    I avoided this thread due to lack of information by the OP but a company would put a trainee up at a hotel or some place out of the truck if trainer went home. I never went home until the trainee was out of the truck, in my time it depended on how well they did how quickly. Not weeks and months. (That's sorta evolving into BS... these days.) If they were really bad they did not stay long.

    Waiting is part of the trucking. If the situation presents itself. Days spent waiting turned into going local doing whatever. Bowling, movies, museums and so on. Lots to do. Even a ball game once or twice in Baltimore back then what with the junk food (Good quality junk food lol)

    I have complained before when given a BS 200 loaded mile run to deliver 5 days because I was considered new. Well that was bad judgement on the dispatch part. I showed up pretty fresh from fairly recent running and there was nothing to be breaking in. It was a waste.
