pier 1 is a fun place, i havnt made a drop to that one yet, but i want to, however, i was there back in nov and i seen one of drivers crap him-self just about when he pulled in, i was getting luch next door. i didnt go over to him cause that is the one place you really really need to be well alert for, and i didnt want to stand there, and him have to show me he knows how to drive, cause we all know we dont wanna look dumb infront of our fellow drivers, so anyway, after he sat for about 20 mins debating weather or not he wants to do this, i left, went back to the term, he got back like 8 hours later, and i asked him how he made out..
" well, i was really scared to back in at first, then i finally just decided that it was time to get it done with, i started bakin in and i slid into the building to the left, and had to get it towed off the ice "
iv also heard other people say they thought it was a joke when they got their, one guy said he thought it was a stair-way. -
"did they ever make you do things you would never do again?
Dont forget Kmart while you are at it! Millions of little boxes stacked from floor to ceiling. God do I miss Pier 1 and Kmart somedays!
Newbs, you will get back in shape with this company -
W&S still beats most hands down. I do admit, they are slow about raises. But they do pay you for what you do. If all you want to do is drive, then per mile is what you get. If you're willing to bust your ###, and hustle the drops. You get paid for it.
Most of the problems that W&S has with drivers. Can be listed in a few categories.
#1 People like me... I would rather bust my ### regionally, and make money. Than hold a steering wheel for 70 hours a week.
#2 People who bought the whole "get rich" spill from schools and other recruiters. Only to find out, trucking really is effected by the economy. And YES...they may lose their house anyway.
#3 People who falsly believe that loads magically appear when they get empty. So they're never going to sit.....any. Truthfully, the average "wait" is 24 or more hours at the "large" companies. And you don't collect lay-over, until hour 48.
W&S is just like any other company. You will eventually get lied to, you will sit, you will do #### jobs, and your pay will suck from time to time. But it will happen less often than most companies.
And unlike Conway Truckload, Covenant, US Express, and a whole host of others. Watkins and Shepard WILL NOT threaten you with your job, and a law suit. For posting a negative in this forum. -

i got to missoula on tuesday night and my truck ended up at the dealership... i just seem to have that luck when i get away from the north east.
whats wrong with that truck now you don't have billy to blame now. so you finally made it to missoula. trust me you aint missing nothing here to much except your favorite putting a vermont load on a 53' still and that stupid Malone, NY run through there I was really waiting on that 1st stop to end quick.Man it's alot of hatin on these pages by people who either hit 1 too many objects or have been blessed; either way it's all bs different strokes for different folks. stay out of the restaurants invest in an inverter
get an coffee pot ant a frig.
If they don't know; I hear them complaining about complaining about
pier 1
I'll raise you 4 legitimate ltl stops in Mass, Conn, and NY a piece, thats in PICK ONE to that of which you speak of. Have not did pier 1 yet; but if you use the G.O.A.L
like they teach you; you should not be on here crying, you should not hit anything and you would embrace that challenge. But I guess thats why they jump to the 1st straight truck hiring this aint for everyone and just because it aint for you don't spoil it for someone else then turn around and say I aprove this company STOP IT!!
Man I didn't know you were on here so I'll try to keep you updated.
oh yeah Dave sends his regards.
"Northeast LTL it's mandatory to spend the minimum of two nights in an hotel and gas up before you get to your 1st stop cause aint no truck stops for the next 4 days!!"

That would make sense. I never had a product that said "Made in Montana"
