I really don't know how steep some of the roads I have driven on over the years are....but I don't even find 16% grades to be much of a hill compared to some I've been on.

Went over Teton Pass which is 10%. They have restrictions for trucks over 60K#, and no towing vehicles in the winter. I was empty, and it was summer at the time. Off road who knows how steep. I’ve been up many logging roads, and some that needed chains on a fully loaded 4x4 F550 to climb. Think it was 26 degrees judging by the angle finding app on the phone.

This is definitely a dick measuring contest.

OK, I have not gone thru all of this thread so forgive me if this climb or decent has been mentioned. The loop around El Paso, 375 I think, is a crazy one! Half the time I 10 through El Paso is closed there for construction after hours. I don't know the percentage of grade but the north bound side of that pass is really harry.
Also, not sure if I spelled decent correctly.

The above video stirred my memory. A couple years ago I went to Guatemala to help build a church. There’s a road that looks exactly like that on the outskirts of Guatemala City except it’s paved and it’s like 3 lanes going in each direction. Nice road, steep climb!

Also went to some orphanages in western Jamaica. Some of those roads are horrifying.

This wasn't in a vehicle, but I did climb this in the early '80's.

I have hauled plenty of extreme grades in the bush but on a actual roadway the steepest I ended up on was a shortcut I took in West Virginia. Just a little off the beaten path and steep enough to think I shouldn't be on this route. Never experienced anything like that on any other paved road.
