Paperless logs are both good and bad. You will sometimes love them and sometimes hate them.
The good thing about them is that you will never be running illegally (unless u want werner to make u take log classes for getting violations), They are also much faster than the paper ones......... its nice when i get to a truck stop i just push 2 buttons and put myself on line 1 and push 2 more for line 3 when im ready to leave etc etc. It is also pretty much impossible for your dispatcher to preasure you into running when u are tired or making you "fix" your logs so you can get places ontime. This seems to help when they give me loads...... i very rarly get a load that I can't deliver ontime since the load planners can see how many hours I have left. Also if you get a dot inspection you put a fax # in and werner faxes your logs to them. And you will never get a violation for drawing a line in the wrong place accidently since if you were violating laws werner would spam u with messages about it.
Bad things..... The one problem is when you just need 15 more minutes to get to a truck stop or to get to the con to deliver your load. There is no room to fudge them. The computer knows when your truck is moving and keeps you on line 3 when it is. Now it dosen't pick up instantly so it wont bother you if u are driving around a walmart dc for 5 mins or a truck stop trying to park I have drivien 4 or 5 miles before and it hasn't picked up so you can still cheat it in small ways.
When you are with your trainer you will have to do paper logs for a couple weeks so you can show werner that you know how to do them (incase the quelcomm breaks for some reason). I would choose paperless for almost every situation over the hastle of the paper ones.StrawberryWine_SC, dragonmatrix and Baack Thank this. -
The lady that did not get a pre-hire says her husband really likes the company and also being a trainer. Nothing but positive comments about the company. Congrats and good luck to you! Hope that helps a little.dragonmatrix, StrawberryWine_SC and Baack Thank this. -

you will hear good and bad about every company. I called werner the other day to see if i could setup an orientation. I was told to send in a new app since it was more than 90 says since my last one and a recruiter would call me on monday. I figure everything should be a ok for an approval nothings changed from previous app when I was approved. (no tickets in 7 years 1 accident in 3 years, no criminal record top student in the class) Yeah I will make less than my current job but now that I got all personal stuff out of the way, and Ive got this cdl in my pocket that i paid 4500 for schooling and put in 18 hour days between school and current job for 10 straight weeks. plus hazmat and it is doing nothing for me in my current non cdl job. Figure I gotta get training and some solo experience to move on to a better cdl job. Yes some sacrifices will need to be made, but everyone makes sacrifices every day of their lives.
Also a good attitude will go a long way, I intend on being a sponge when it comes to information and training.StrawberryWine_SC Thanks this. -
You can work the log or it can work you.
Trip planning will be your friend. Also make sure you communicate with dispatch on when you will be delivering, delays, available for loads.
Good luck -
Thanks to everyone that has posted here. All the information you've given me is very much appreciated. Please keep it comming. To quote you, bigpapa7272, I am "the sponge".

Just called Werner, Nothing available in my area? for christ's sake im in baltimore, not maine or florida. What a joke things are turning out to be. I guess top student in the class, no tickets last 7 years and 1 accident in the last 5 with no criminal record isnt a good person to bring on board. Seriously, buyng my own truckgetting my own authority is sounding better by the minute

BUT am I THAT BAD of an APPLICANT??????
top student in the class, no tickets last 7 years and 1 accident in the last 5 with no criminal record. Living in baltimore right off 95
I guess they would rather have an intolerant slob with massive criminal issues and crappy driving record.
