Where is everyone #5

Years ago we were being routed on city streets through there. Still designated state route though. Every time they would stop us and demand cash...everytime I refused. There were a few that fell for it.

Not that I'll ever have something with disc brakes, but I was curious. I suppose that one wouldn't have problems with them freezing in the winter either.

Well heres what the dochebags tried with me, check this out.


I came down the westbound ramp, exit 10. Its Friday evening Louisiana time. Traffic is starting to get thick. Had 10 cars in front of me waiting on the light. I creep on up when it's my turn...im getting close to the intersection.

Theres 1 right turn lane going towards the town, 2 left turns going towards the peelot truckstop. I holler at my pilot , "hey Bill, grab that inside left turn lane, I'll hold right. I'm gonna need them both so a degenerate dont try to side unload this machine with his car hood"....Bill laughed and said "trust me, I'm already there, these people are already getting serious here in the Daytona 500 here today".

So I finally get up to the light. I wait, its bout to go green.....but instead of green lights, I see a SUV come strolling up to my left. Hits me with a "woooo wooo" siren noise. Then kicks on the disco lights. I'm like WTF....wonder what the deal is. Then 1 more comes from the left and parks in front of my truck, 2 more to my right. Block the right of my truck in. Now I know something ain't right. I climb down outta the cab.

"Hello officer, what's happening?" (Its really hard to know what to say). Plus traffic is starting to pile in all directions. Its gonna be a mess of epic proportions in about 5 more minutes of this.

He says, "wheres your front and rear city escorts?, I dont see any...and that's a problem. Its $500 fine without them."

Me "really, whys that?" I'm only 14 wide, 90,000 heavy. It's not a big deal. I got permits. Im going to the truckstop. Im done for the day. That's all I'm doing. Didnt realize I needed special city escorts to travel on the interstate through here".

He said "you dont, but as soon as those steer tires hits that intersection, you're in our jurisdiction. That ramp you're setting on is not....but your not going to back up. So you only got 1 way to go here. And you WILL have 2 city escorts when you go and you WILL pay them today".

Me " ok....well how much that cost?"

First he said $100 each, CASH only, I laughed and said "you cant be serious. Let's just do this, I'll just cross straight on through and get back on I-12 and get outta yall hair and let all this traffic go. Its getting serious here officer. This is causing some serious traffic issues. Can you please cut me a break?"

He says "absolutely not. And I already cut you a break. Now it's a $1000 dollar fine if you dont use escorts. Oh and now its $250 a piece if you dont have cash." Other cop says, "do you have a personal check you can write out to me for it?"

I said, "no cash and no check, nope and this conversation is over till we get this sorted out. This ramp is part of the interstate highway system and not your jurisdiction, you said so youreself....call a goddddam wrecker or state highway patrol, I dont give a dam honestly. It ain't moving from this ramp until this gets sorted out by someone other than you".

Finally, Cap'n shows up pissed clear off. Mile long backup up onto I-12. A big ol mess. People are out of there cars walking up to see what's up. People taking pictures and posting on Facebook I'm sure. People raising hell. I actually started laughing. He comes at me with an attitude at first, then me and my pilot car tells him the story and he starts chewing those cops a new arse 1 cop done left right before captin rolled up. I think he knew what was up.

He told them, and i quote " you get your a sses the hell outta here. He does not need a dam escort to go to the ####ing truckstop! Look at this mess now. It will be hours before this dies down......leave!!! All of you!!!

Then he says, "come on driver, I'll clear some traffic for you to go to the truckstop. Sorry bout all this, they really f'ed up." However, that's all he would say about it.

Then as we get to the truckstop, he gets a call on the radio about someone just pulled a gun in a road rage incident someone called in at exit 10 on the westbound off ramp at S. Range Ave.


That's the jist of it anyhow. Sorry it was long winded guys.

 

I want this story written in a book of our adventures in the Bearcat restaurant...

That’s a tough one, fella.

All eyes on you when it’s not even your wrong doing. I’d be hard pressed not to get too snooty with the officers too...

Makes ya wonder if shiet like that ain’t more common...

 

The fact that it took me that long to figure it out is the bad part.

Perhaps at my advanced age I had better install an aptly named idiot light to warn me when the suspension is dumped.

 

My gawd, you oversize guys can sure make a mess of things!!
