You’re exactly right. Just my opinion I could be wrong but if we don’t ratify the contract I think Ups would just close the doors. We have no leverage here.

The union says that freight made about $170M profit last year.

Now the feeling is that ups shuts freight down completely, even if the contract is voted yes. I personally saw a couple weeks back, after how hardcore the company was becoming, that they were past 'negotiating' and were going to totally shut freight down then reogranize under coyote logistics, which is their freight broker. This way they bust out the union and can increase their profit because they wont have to worry about pension and benefits. Coyote will just handle moving the ltl freight among different subcontracted fleets throughout America that will have trucks still badged with 'ups freight', even though theyre actually run by a totally different outfit.

Theyre gonna start telling guys to stay home tomorrow.

Even if the company stays open, theyre saying layoffs will last til spring. Seniority is going to become a major factor now.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe my joke about those triples being empty was true?:(

They had us pulling empties from all of our customers on Saturday. I got back to the terminal tonight, and it was EMPTY.

They actually kind of are because they literally do not care about their drivers. The place is nothing more then a meat grinder, and the only reason why the parcel guys are looked out for (even though this last contract erodes them quite a bit) is because the company would literally fold without them. But other then that, UPS doesn't give two S's about it's drivers. I don't even think youre a number in their eyes. Probably looked at more as a piece of equipment.

This is how they will convince you to vote yes.
Most people live paycheck to paycheck. UPS drivers are not diferant.

It's too early too tell rather they will be layoff...If this contract pass and they able too pick the volume back up within 2 weeks or 3 everybody should be fine...
