Concrete shakes loose from Oklahoma bridges

All major projects around here have independent or state or local inspectors taking slope /slump or other tests on all concrete being poured. Most of the problems come with the shoddy contractors doing smaller projects cutting corners. Same guys that use all wet bac ks . My best friend is concrete contractor. Every time a salesman comes in and tells him about some new BS additive that is "just as good as old fashioned concrete" he tells them good bring me the old stuff then. Take you time to set it up right, pour it right, and cure it right and it is hard to beat.

 

I did forget to mention they did get caught once, a contractor had a tester come in and test and found out the cement was more fly ash then cement, the loads were rejected then, the boss i guess was fuming mad.

 

I am level one and two certified. If it is even a yard, we got to test it here in Kentucky. One yard of post holes must be on record. But it must be on a qualifing project.

 

Not modern concrete anyway. Roman Aqueducts are still structurally sound in most cases, built using concrete 2000 years ago.
