Second Paying Job

Are you speaking of working 2 jobs? Or quitting one, and taking another?

 

I think at least 800-1000/wk net is reasonable. 6 months to a year is a good baseline. Definitely at least 6 months.

 

I couldn’t honestly say what you could expect. Especially with the current economy as it is.

In the past, you would either make the same or take a cut in pay. Now days, you can certainly ask for more money.

I would be very wary of any new job that offered me a huge raise. Reason being, if you make 35 cents per mile now. And someone else offers you 50 cents. Who’s actually paying more?

The answer isn’t that easy. Especially if they can’t tell you exactly how many miles per week you’ll get. Without fail.

Here’s a tip for you. Speak with a senior driver at that company. Ask what he makes, then subtract 25% per mile. Then ask how many miles he gets. And add 25%.

Yes, you’re going to get paid less than him. And run harder.

Wow, nothing personal, but, can you be more vague in your question?

That is like me asking how much money should I make after graduating from college, and, I don't tell you if I got an associates, bachelors, masters or PhD or in what field.

How long have you been driving? WHAT have you been driving? Is it a class A CDL job???

If your driving tankers and flatbeds, you should be able to get paid pretty good!

Where do you live? Maybe you have a terminal nearby that is begging for drivers.

UPS, FedEx, WalMart, these are some good paying gigs that don't require a WHOLE lot of experience.

What is your driving record like? Any at fault accidents or tickets? That will dictate a LOT.

Is there any manager past or present from your current company who'd be willing to be a decent reference? How about any co-workers?

Usually, you need at least 2 years verifiable experience, along with a clean driving record.
