So, I had something both cool and extremely creepy happen to me today. Had a broker call me and offer me a load for pickup on Friday. Before I called him back, I looked up the load and it wasn't on the board. I let him know that fact when I called him back.He said he knew that, and most of his loads never make it to the board. Apparently he's been tracking me. Offered me a load that pays pretty well and gets me home this weekend. I wasn't planning on going home, but I got a new supply of contacts coming to my house in the next day or two, so I'll take it. He said that because of where I live, he looked at my run history and offered me a couple really nice lanes that will never be seen on our load board. He has a bevy of drivers that just take them before they need to be posted. He lost a couple of his regulars because they moved on to another company or retired or whatever. If they pan out (I've heard this story before) this will be a major change, and a very good one. Here's hoping, I guess. For now, I'm just grabbing a beer at Fat Patty's. If you ever do a 10 in Teays Valley at the TA, it's worth the walk across the street. Killer burgers, man. Cheers y'all, have a good night and be safe.

Yeah, what he said. They put a couple plastic spacers right at the front of the trailer ( I can't for the life of me remember what they are called) at some places, not sure if at all places which take up a few feet of space. Load all the beer in right behind it until you are basically out of weight and the rest of the trailer is empty, usually a good chuck.

The only thing I had when I was with Millis loaded over the nose and the tandems with empty space in the middle were giant paper rolls.

Bulkheads is what you're looking for. When I took the paper roll loads with the giant rolls, they never spaced them. Hell, there wasn't room. The GP loads out of Cedar Springs were all front-to-back with no spacing. Always between 6-8 rolls. The only place I ever saw that tried to space out the weight was the place in NY I hated going to. Twin Rivers, or Two Rivers, or whatever it was. Hated that dam place. The guy loading the trailers there needs smacked and given an education.

    Bulkheads. Thanks man.

Not all my paper roll loads were spaced but probably half. All the ines I ever drug out of the port in Philly were for sure, van't remember the names of the other places..

Ughhh... Philly... been there twice with Millis. I'll never go to that city again under any circumstances.

Whassup mother truckers, starting to feel like part of the family...

Finished up with Bill in Trenton yesterday, got on Steve Smith's truck to do my 15k yesterday around lunchtime. We rolled up to Milwaukee to drop a load and pick up a new one heading to Long Island (Brentwood).

That's right, day 2 of OTR driving and I'm getting my NYC cherry popped.

I think I'm gonna love this line of work :)

After being a trucker for over two years, I am sitting down to my first truck stop restaurant meal ever. It's exactly as depressing as I imagined it would be.
