Question about banking. Where? How to have 24/7 access to your money? Is there a type or chain of banks that are niched towards a truckers lifestyle with little to no fees? Checking, ATM, Savings, Direct Deposit etc.?
I just don't want to be in a position of constantly paying fees for transactions. I use my local bank now but it is just that "local" and I don't want to be in a situation to have to wait to get back home to correct a direct deposit issue or something.

Most banks have online banking. If yours doesn't or charges fees, switch or maintain the minimum deposit.

In today's online world and assuming you have internet access, virtually anything is possible as long as your income source can do direct deposit. Once the money is in the bank, there's any number of ways to move it around, pay this and pay that, get cash without fees, etc.

I too use a small regional bank. It's a problem like if you win big at a casino and have to convert to money order then mail to bank. Maybe consider using a national bank like Chase or Wells Fargo might make it easier in some situations to handle unique transaction requirements.

Check with your bank and download list of all ATMs you can use free across the continent. There may be a APP for this. Your local bank may be connected to a much larger institution.

Top 10 Checking Accounts With No ATM Fees (PNC, ALLY)

i have pnc performance account. there is no monthly fees if deposit at least 2000 a month. it has many branches and atms and offer atm fee reimbursement (maybe 20 dollars per month) if used a non pnc atm. if you dont care much about branches and such, open an online banking account on that list. it might be even better

If you join a credit union that's part of the Co-op Network you get 30,000 free ATM's and Credit Union lobbies all over the US. Only useful if you need physical money or access, but many have up to date online capabilities as well, low to zero fees. Most you can start a checking account for $5 deposit.

I put everything on the company card. Dump it once a month into the bank. No worries. Minus a little cash.

I have never had issues accessing money and in fact prior to the internet and cell phones the bank was able to access my last time I accessed the ATM to see where I am in the USA should I be a no show from being sick in the truck a few days or something.

With the kind of payroll in the thousands I don't feel the fees. A few dollars here and there wont break me.

If I needed big cash now, I walk into any Credit Union or FDIC bank tied to the Fed Wire, create a ad hoc account which generates a router number and acct number, give that to someone back home and they wire it. I never had to use that ever. Even after 9-11 came along and the money was wrecked, we still had savings enough to keep rolling plus a few other repairs etc.

Well the bigger banks charge fees for convenience. It really depends on where ya run. They all have apps to make things easier, it depends on preference.

I use Wells Fargo for check/sav. and a local credit union for money market and another checking account.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did know there were company cards. Are they payroll cards? More info on how that works would be great. X1Heavy's way of just making deposits when he gets around to it sounds perfect.
