Yeah WV, for the most part, is about 20 years behind the times. While the lot lizards in the rest of the country are using the internet to find work, the WV girls are still doing it like they did 20 years ago.
I'm happy that I haven't seen a lot lizard in real life since the 90s. -
You didn't happen to pick up a Koch trailer out of Cartersville today around noon did you?

Lucky you. They reinforce the view I have of most truckers. I've said it before, and I have no problem saying it again. I'm a trucker and I can't stand truckers. I know when I see one of those zombified women walking around, she's gonna visit at least more than one truck that night. So gross. Both of them. Same guy that will walk out of the bathroom while you're trying to get in, and he's taking up the entire doorway and smells like he hasn't seen soap in a week. I'm not a fn truck driver. I'm a freight relocation specialist. Call me a trucker to my face and you'll wake up on your back. That's not a threat towards you personally. I just hate the culture.Last edited: Nov 9, 2018
dhellmer Thanks this. -
Yeah I can't stand most of these guys either. I ask myself pretty much daily why I even bother listening to the CB because I know one of them is going to go on about a bunch of #### that's going to piss me off, and then I'm going to say something to them, then I know that 99% of the time they're gonna be trying to get me to pull over and fight them. So much toxic masculinity out here, and a lot of really, really nasty drivers.dhellmer Thanks this.

That's what I like most about @keen98 for sure. I wish I had a killer trainer experience when I needed it. My trainer was exactly what you just described. I had to figure out all the important stuff on my own. And, for the record, most of the important stuff has nothing to do with being behind the wheel. Sounds to me like you already know that.MIT Thanks this.

No but I wish I had. Need a B service and I’m afraid I’m going to get sent to Albany. 2 stopper today in Macon and Athens then back to Dublin.

My trainer was good for some things, lousy at others. He sure wasn't getting out of the truck to help, that's for sure.
One night we stayed at the Wytheville TA. Not many spots left and the one I picked was an imperial pain. He sat there and coached me from the drivers seat instead of getting out and helping spot me. Oh and he loved yelling out the window at drivers that did things he didn't like. This particular night, a Landstar driver pissed him off somehow, and he couldn't help himself so he yelled out the window. Aer I finally got it parked and I'm walking across the lot to go get me some Popeyes, a guy that I'm pretty sure was the Landstar driver stopped me and said "It took you a minute but you got it in there and didn't hit anything. Good job! Too bad your ###### trainer wasn't of any help.
There's still backing situations that I'm still learning on my own because he wasn't much help, and I'm still probably not where I should be skill-wise when it comes to backing up.
Probably the most important thing he taught me was teaching me about using Briley Parkway to get around Nashville when things are bad.Farmer54 Thanks this. -
Just talk to William. That was your normal dispatcher, right? They'll get you to a spot to get serviced. They care about services. At least, that is, until you've held on to your truck too long. Millis was great on getting me routed to a B service. At least until I turned down a new truck twice. I am pretty sure they knew I was leaving and the no longer played ball on fixing stuff. My lease was past due, can't possibly blame them for that.

We get a lot of flack out there. We are the Swifties of the O/O world, that's the truth. Doesn't matter to me. I am in a way different world now. I help people all the time. I drive how I'm comfortable. My truck will do 90, easily. I know that because of Texas. I choose to feel safe. I choose to help. I choose to not look like a super trucker. I choose to not end up on my side because I was careless, and I choose to laugh when I watch it happen. I also choose to sleep well at night because I ignore it all.
