The one I just got sent is a doozy: Denver to New Castle. Honestly on a weekend I expected this, I just thought I'd be headed the opposite direction because of the swingdoor reefer I'm pulling.
Oh yeah, you aren't the only one, brother.![]()

My top 2 deadhead adventures here at Abilene are as follows,
1) 3 years ago, dead head from Colton Ca to West Memphis, 1751 miles. Picked up a loaded trailer and turn around to go to Chino Ca.
2) 2 years ago deadhead from Helena Montana to Colton Ca, 1250 miles in the middle of winter empty.Rugerfan, MidWest_MacDaddy and Barn Door Bill Thank this. -
Update: The dude was unable to fix my truck, and has passed me off to another service company.MidWest_MacDaddy and Lonesome Thank this.

I remember my last KW. It wouldn’t start, had 2 different road service people come out, neither one could fix it. Tow truck was called, towed to KW 2 days later they replaced a $39 sensor.MidWest_MacDaddy, 5speed, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this.

900 is my record. Dispatched bobtail from the Richmond yard to pick up a new trailer from Great Dane in AR then drop it at Volvo in Byhalia. Previous best was Ft Lauderdale to BH in Forrest City AR.
Money doesn't get any easier to make.MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and Silverdriver Thank this. -
Don't remember what my deadhead record is. Probably Indy to Wythville, which I have done a few times.
My bobtail record is Chicago to Indy, and that is a trip I will never forget. As bad as Indiana highways are when you're pulling a trailer, they're 10x worse bobtail.MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and Lonesome Thank this. -
I bobtailed home from Joliet, IL. 320ish miles.
My longest deadhead was Carlisle, PA to Dwight, IL.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
Bobtailed from Colton, CA to Oklahoma City. About 1300mi. Sucked. They had a truck break down there, we re-powered the load it was carrying and delivered it late in Reno.
MidWest_MacDaddy and Redtwin Thank this. -
Update: Been sitting here for over six hours now. Found out that the first guy called Breakdown and quoted them a $1500 repair bill for replacing the starter. Breakdown got the approval and called him back, and he said he wasn't going back out tonight. So Breakdown called another service company.
Other service company came out prepared to replace the starter based on the recommendation of the first guy. He asked me a few questions, then reached up to the ignition and turned the key.
Truck started right up.
MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and 5speed Thank this. -
I bobtailed from Richmond to Lafayette IN one time to pickup a new trailer, and I also went empty from somewhere in Oregon to Colton CA. It was like 1000 miles.
gntorres61 and Redtwin Thank this.
