Just got home after 16 days out with a trainer.

1st 2 hours of orientation gave me a scare. There were 3 of us non-experienced drivers there, as well as 2 other drivers with over 10 years experience.
The 3 of us newbies had to take a driving test first thing upon arrival at orientation. And both of the other guys failed and were sent home before 9:00am. After seeing both of them be told to pack their stuff and go home, I was worried that I would get the same. It was a huge relief to be told that I had passed.

I did all of EVO I and 5 days of EVO II when my trainer went home for his time off.
I tried to stay out and complete the rest of EVO II,and begin EVO III before coming home, but there were no trainers available yesterday,so they sent me home for the weekend, and will have a trainer pick me up here at my hometown early next week to finish out.

Got to drive in Northern Michigan on the banks of Lake Superior last weekend. Some of the driving was in 8-12 inches of snow on the roads. I could only tell where the road was by the 4-5 foot high snow banks along the sides. I just stayed in betwen those banks, and kept it at about 25mph..

I am in the Military Honors Program, and do have a question about EVO III pay.
As of last Monday, the Honors program required a combined total of 4.5 hours of driving/On duty time (up from the previous 4.0 hours) to get the full days pay. Is this the same for EVO III,or is there any difference??

I know what you are talking about in the upper peninsula. It never quits snowing.
I had a load from Perth Ont. to Lanse MI and skirted the Superior and it was the coolest thing i have seen on the road so far. There was a storm forming out off the shore and the waves were cresting like the ocean.

Good luck in EVO III. Are you going van or flat?

Lanse Michigan was the town we dropped off a load at. I drove from Rapid River to Marquette, and then over to Lanse. It was only about 120 miles, but it took me almost 5 hours.
The 57 miles from Rapid River to Marquette was all 20-25mph the entire way.

I am in National Van division right now.
I wanted Flatbed for the extra $210 per week I would get in the Honors Program, but the orientation for that was not until March 6th,while Van orientation had an opening on Feb 9th.

I will stay with Van until I get out of EVO III and then try to get over to Flat.
I know flatbedding is a lot of extra work and is dirty, but that extra $210 per week will pay for any extra showers I need to take....

Where was your driving test? Nobody failed in Marshfield when I did it.

hey all, congrats viking, im on my 3rd time out on evo 3... had a load from IN to Houston, its was 86 down there...nice... but it was nite driving all the way down... hate night driving... then got a load in Louisiana goin back up to Indy... day driving woohoo but.... stopped north of Jackson, Miss. Sleet storm rolled in... so woke up in batesville, 25 mph at most from there to the Missouri border... at least 10 trucks jackknifed and in the ditch.. if you tried to get off the I in Arkansas u were in the ditch or jack'd... 2 inches of ice on the road... just dont stop and dont spin out.... so the load was late... grrrr.. made me 2 hours late since i had to do a 10 hr break an hour from the consignee... dsr said its ok i did the right thing, they rescheduled my load for unload tonite at 2330 ... then i hit another load nearby at 0830 goin up to belleville WI the next day... Im 6 hrs away from a 34 hr reset... been runnin hard for the last 5 days, but no complaints cept Gary Maint. Hopefully will get up to Marshfield and get an APU b4 summer...
