Anytime hand. I don’t claim to know a lot about the sand, I just know in my early days doin this I was told that most of what we got from US Silica or Unimin was from Wisconsin or surrounding areas. I’m sure some was from Minnesota.
We used to go down to Brady, TX a lot. I mean A LOT. But now, with a sand plants more common than Walmarts around here, we usually don’t have to travel too far to get what we need.

Yeah, when you grow up in a place that has just a couple red lights. When 2 dudes are holding hands and making out, it dont take long until the entire stupid town knows about it.
Just think about Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show. You hear stuff you dont even wanna know. Its ridiculous.7-UP, PoleCrusher, 1951 ford and 19 others Thank this. -
Locally we have both US Silica and Unimin and I knew that Unimin had a mine in Portage Wisconsin if I'm not mistakenPoleCrusher, 1951 ford, BigCam9670 and 14 others Thank this.

Appreciate that Shooter...
Yeah, will get a tug tomorrow morning when I’m due in the shop.
Not worried about damaging anything. In fact, I’m wondering if rocking the autoshift back and forth like I have been does more harm than good. Truck isn’t a manual. Gotta be uber gentle with the whole thing. Plus, makes no sense to me to possibly damage it just trying to get it out of a hole on company property.
“You could’ve used a chain and another truck but now the transmission is wrecked and you bent an aluminum rim!@!&!”
“Yeah but but but I got it outta the hole...”
Ahhh, well, next time I’m here I’m putting my iron on before transversing the 100 ft of loose rock....... or I’ll just park in the northeast corner and keep to myself like I should’ve done.
Somewhat ashamed I can’t untuck this. But eh. I’m 50/50 on this hole thing. Twice I’ve been able to get her out. Twice I haven’t.
Y’all remember when I got little blue stuck down in Texas? Oh that was a fun night. No showers at that truck stop so I vaguely remember driving with dirt and mud all over my feet till I hit the TA up by the 35 split south of Dallas...
And then there was the Smokey Mountain delivery where I got stuck on wet grass on a sharp hill. Was able to ease off the brakes and roll her backwards back onto the concrete. Was the dumbest scariest crap I’ve ever done with a load on the deck but I got her out...
I’m 50/50 with this bs... meh. I’m a concrete jungle boy. I’ll stick to the pavement.

My great uncle told A story that in his day the kid that was the oldest and lived the furthest from the school drove the bus. Imagine that nowadays!PoleCrusher, MagnumaMoose, 1951 ford and 16 others Thank this. -
Happened to us. One of the stops was at a recently closed elementary school (2 elementary schools in town, not enough students). The bus got stuck in the unplowed parking lot one day. We all got out and pushed. Bus driver got in #### over that when his supervisor got wind of it. He didn't get fired thankfully.

Shoulda fired the supervisor. Had he been doing his job the parking lot would have been plowed.PoleCrusher, MagnumaMoose, 1951 ford and 18 others Thank this.

My favorite thing about driving a wrecker!! It never failed. Get a hot meal in front of you or go to step in the shower and beep...beep...beep!! Oh yeah it's been awhile since I drove a wrecker. We still had pagers and then bag phones!!PoleCrusher, MagnumaMoose, 1951 ford and 18 others Thank this.

That would’ve been me....
I was the last stop throughout much of middle school and high school.
Long as we didn’t have any dirt roads we would’ve been alright
