Hey guys i had been struggling with driving at night lately and dealing with all these bright headlights of other cars and trucks. And its like a tooth ache that only gets worse.
It is very stressful for me to drive when im being blinded constantly. I have resorted first to covering the side of my face everytime someone with bright lights was passing my way but do not like covering the side of my face so often so i now wear a baseballcap and wear it in a angle to block the mirror partially.
I remember seeing drivers have a screen or shade they put on the side of there window and was not sure how effective this was and was it meant for the sun or headlights.
I wanted to know how do you guys manage driving at night with these bright lights and if anyone has any suggestions. Does anyone use a shade or something to put on the window to make driving a bit more comfortable and where can i get it?

I personally do not suffer from this, but a coworker of mine did. He purchased night time driving glasses and swears by them. Might be worth a shot.
VIDEODROME, Woodys, Dan.S and 4 others Thank this. -
I use either yellow tinted shooting glasses that eliminates various light issues, particularly the blue light. Or a set of yellow tinted night glasses.
If I am in a area with excessive light pollution, I'll wear my regular sun shades. -
The glare from oncoming vehicles can be challenging especially if you wear prescription glasses for driving.
Replace the overhead white map light with a red light in the cab and turn it on while driving.VIDEODROME and Roaddreamer Thank this. -
some drivers use a purple light on the windshield, to cut the glare. however, i was also told, the cops or a DOT can write you up for that, cuz it's not a DOT approved color for front lights (who knows, maybe just truck stop rhetoric)
i would also suggest (and i often do recommend) the yellow shooters glasses........
i suppose too, you can shut your eyes, but that can be hazardous to your health... -
I made a shade from sun blocking screen material I got from Lowes. I made it so I could roll it up and down when needed. It's wide enough that it covers the area of my drivers side mirror. It works great for me. You can not believe how much it has helped with those bright light drivers behind and coming up on the side. The one draw back is you really have to look to make sure nothings around you if you want to pull out and pass. Mine I can move forward to give me a clear view of my mirror. I only have it for the drivers side but, that alone reduces the bright lite issue 80% for me. Now is it legal?? I have no idea. I have seen some sort of roll up screens at the pilot that attach to the window glass but, I don't know what it's use is for.

Same problem here which is why I only drive days. Tried the yellow glasses and not really an improvement. Some people just aren't cut out for the eye strain at night. I'm one of them.

Caffeine would help keep my eyes wired open to the point that I could look straight into someone's bright lights like it was nothing. I use to always have a 5 hour or redline energy shot with me.
Edit: definitely shouldnt use these if you have health issues. -
Just lean forward so the mirror is out of your periferal vision.
You ever notice that person that comes flying up behind you only to slow down and sit right in th worst possible place and just sit there? Hide your face, block it with your hand or lean forward and, like magic, they will piss off down the road.
People are strange. -
I tilt my side mirrors down to the road or up toward the sky just enough so the lights of cars are not reflected in the eyes until they are next to your door/sleeper.
Good for blindspot monitoring at night.
The wide angle bottom mirrors & hood mirrors are plenty to see what you need while in lane & can just lean down/lean forward to see the tilted down detailed part for lane changes.Trucking in Tennessee Thanks this.
