Better be sure you don't have coolant on top of the pistons. Can't compress a solid. You'll put a hole in the piston or worse.
2011 Volvo 780 with a d13, Pretty sure losing coolant internally

The head gaskets are not bad on D13, could be leaking around famous D13 injectors

, it has problems with oil coolers going bad, but this would leak outside; could lose through turbo also and you won't see it; when my last turbo went bad i found coolant leaking out of the actuator. I got the sleeper heating unit leaking and power steering heater inside the frame, right side, or the air compressor.
Disconnect the hose downstream from EGR cooler , it's easy 2 clamps only and check moisture, wet soot. I realized my egr cooler was leaking after i removed EGR temp sensor, and dif pressure sensor on Venturi, fond them both wet dirty.
Just some thoughts !Last edited: Nov 11, 2018
KB3MMX and Krazymonkeys Thank this. -
Just do a Google search for amsoil oil analysis kit. I buy 12 bottles a year. They come with instructions on how to set everything up, etc. Even comes with prepaid shipping packages as well.KB3MMX, Johny41 and Krazymonkeys Thank this.

Did you ever compare the results with Speedco ?
I rarely run oil analysis and i did @ Speedco only, but I hear all kind of bad reviews, not accurate tests. -
That instant speedco tests are a complete waist of money. I use blackstone laboratories out of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. They will send you free sample kits...

I have only ever used amsoil, haven't compared the results to anyone else yet. They are usually quick, 2 days to ship to them than takes about 2 days to get the results.
How much does the testing cost? -

Okay. That's about comparable to amsoil.
KB3MMX Thanks this.
